It’s no secret that skiing and snowboarding in the U.S. aren’t cheap. However, Vail Resorts, which operates 37 ski resorts across North America, has introduced a new perk that should help get more people on the slopes.

“Epic Friend Tickets,” available for Epic passholders for the 2025/2026 season, give a 50% discount on lift tickets for friends of those who hold an Epic pass.

There’s a lot more to explore about this new feature, so let’s dive right in!

Epic Friend Tickets Now Available for Pass Holders

Vail Resorts has introduced a new perk for its Epic Pass holders. Called Epic Friend Tickets, they provide a 50% discount on lift tickets across Vail’s 37 owned and operated North American properties, including resorts like Vail Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb, Park City Mountain, Stowe, and many more.

In addition, friends can apply 100% of the cost of 1 redeemed Epic Friend Ticket to the cost of an Epic Pass for the 2026/2027 season.

Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic Military Pass, Northeast Value Pass, and most of the company’s other season-long pass holders will receive 6 to 10 Epic Friend Tickets, depending on when they purchased their pass. Passes purchased before April 14, 2025, will receive 10 Epic Friend Tickets, while those purchased after will receive 6.

Epic Friend Tickets can be redeemed by visiting epicpass.com and activated via the MyEpic app (iOS, Android). Note that the passholder needs to scan their pass before the Friend Ticket becomes ready to use.

Epic Friend Tickets are an evolution of and an improvement over the former Buddy Tickets, which usually offered smaller discounts that varied from resort to resort.

Epic Passes are on sale now for $1,075 per adult and $548 per child. Note, too, that prices will increase after September 1, 2025, making now the best time to purchase if you intend to ski and snowboard more than a couple of times throughout the season.

The Epic Pass provides unlimited access to the 37 North American Vail Resorts properties plus partner resorts in North America, Europe, and Japan. Plus, holders of the Epic Pass receive 20% off food, lodging, group lessons, rentals, and more, among other benefits.

Final Thoughts

Vail Resorts’ new Epic Friend Tickets represent a meaningful improvement over its former product for friends of Epic Pass holders, with 50% discounts on lift tickets and a discount toward the purchase price of an Epic Pass for the next season.

If you like skiing or snowboarding with friends and think an Epic Pass is worth it, don’t hesitate to make your purchase before prices rise after September 1!
