As of July, Etihad Airways will provide free medical travel insurance for all passengers traveling to Abu Dhabi (AUH).

The limited-time offer is valid for up to 15 days in the UAE, allowing visitors to plan a trip without worrying about medical insurance.

“Giving comprehensive medical insurance with every eligible Etihad ticket means our guests can focus entirely on experiencing the extraordinary Emirati hospitality Abu Dhabi has to offer,” said Antonaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad.

Etihad Offers Free Medical Insurance When Visiting the UAE

The most important thing to note is that complimentary medical travel insurance is included only when booking flights directly with Etihad Airways. The offer will last until the end of the year and is valid for up to a 15-day stay.

An added bonus is that no registration or sign-up is required. All non-UAE nationals are automatically enrolled when booking an eligible flight.

Passengers will be covered when traveling on flights to Abu Dhabi (AUH) and when making a stopover in the city en route to one of the airline’s many other destinations. Medical insurance will not cover travelers at their final destination after they’ve left Abu Dhabi.

The move, confirmed by the carrier on Friday, aims to attract tourists to Abu Dhabi at a time when conflict in the Middle East is likely deterring travelers.

While Abu Dhabi and the Middle East might not be at the top of everyone’s bucket list right now, Etihad’s offer of complimentary health insurance could be enough to make would-be travelers reconsider.

The insurance is offered in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) of Abu Dhabi, and it’s the first instance we can recall of an airline offering this service to its passengers free of charge. It’s unlikely to become commonplace, so it’s definitely worth considering making the most of it while it lasts.
