Air France–KLM’s Flying Blue program is preparing to roll out new milestone-style perks aimed squarely at its most dedicated flyers. Instead of loyalty benefits stopping once you’ve requalified for status, members who continue piling up Experience Points (XPs) could soon be rewarded along the way.

Although full details haven’t been confirmed, here’s what we know so far about this potential rollout.

Extra Perks May Be Coming for Top-Tier Flying Blue Elites

Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue loyalty program appears to be adding new “Choice Benefits,” which would let elite members choose extra perks as they keep earning points beyond their usual status level.

These benefits look designed to reward ongoing engagement, with options that may include bonus miles, the ability to gift elite status, small XP or Ultimate XP boosts, mileage flexibility features, and even upgrades at higher levels.

As first reported by Loyalty Lobby, these Choice Benefits have begun appearing within member dashboards when logging in through Air France or KLM’s websites (rather than the standalone Flying Blue portal). The feature seems geared toward higher-tier members, particularly those earning well past the XPs needed to secure or renew Platinum status.

Currently, Flying Blue status is earned at fixed XP levels: Silver at 100 XPs, Gold at 180 XPs, Platinum at 300 XPs, and Ultimate at 900 Ultimate XPs. In the past, once members reached enough XPs to requalify for Platinum, additional flying often delivered minor benefits due to tight rollover caps.

Choice Benefits appear intended to fill that gap. Instead of excess flying feeling wasted, members may receive milestone-style rewards for continued activity. This could be especially meaningful given the large jump between Platinum and Ultimate, where qualification requires a significant amount of airline-specific flying. These new perks may serve as strategic incentives that make staying loyal to Flying Blue more attractive year-round.

Hot Tip:

If you’re a Flying Blue Platinum member who frequently flies Air France or KLM long-haul, it could be worth holding off on crediting flights to other programs until these Choice Benefits are fully detailed — the extra perks may add unexpected value.

Final Thoughts

It appears Flying Blue is moving toward a more milestone-driven approach to rewarding its most frequent flyers, rather than letting extra flying go unrewarded after status is secured.

While these Choice Benefits aren’t fully detailed or formally rolled out yet, member communications suggest meaningful changes could be on the way — making this a development worth watching closely if you credit a lot of flights to Air France or KLM.
