Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is returning to Shanghai with a new property scheduled to open in the coming years.

Here’s what you need to know!

Four Seasons Hotel in Shanghai, China

Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai will have 160 guest rooms and suites and will be 44 stories tall.

Located in Shanghai’s city center near shopping, dining, and entertainment, this hotel will include more than 7,000 square feet of meeting space, a gym, a spa, and a heated outdoor pool.

There will be 5 unique dining options at Four Seasons Shanghai, including a contemporary seafood restaurant, an open-kitchen Italian trattoria, a Chinese tea lounge, and a patisserie.

The hotel is expected to open for guests in 2027, though an exact opening date hasn’t been announced.

“As we expand our portfolio in China, Shanghai has maintained its position as one of the most important markets for luxury travelers,” said Bart Carnahan, President of Global Business Development, Portfolio Management and Residential at Four Seasons.

Bottom Line:

Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai, a 44-story hotel with 160 guest rooms, will open to guests in 2027. Located in the heart of the city, this hotel will include 5 unique dining options, a fitness center, a spa, and a heated outdoor pool.

About Four Seasons Hotels

The name Four Seasons is interchangeable with “luxury” — and for good reason.

Since the brand’s first hotel opened in 1961, it has become one of the world’s best international luxury hotel brands. The brand emphasizes high-level service, luxurious rooms, and high-end amenities. Today, you’ll find nearly 130 Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and 53 residential properties in 47 countries. More than 50 are currently in the pipeline or under development.

Four Seasons has expanded from solely hotels and residences to offering fully inclusive private jet itineraries in recent years. In 2025, Four Seasons Yachts will also launch, offering an opulent experience at sea.

Unfortunately, Four Seasons doesn’t have a loyalty program, elite status, or points. However, you can book your stay through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner or The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection (LHRC) from Chase for perks like room upgrades, resort credits, and complimentary breakfast for 2.

Bottom Line:

Four Seasons has an impressive portfolio in China, boasting properties in several major cities like Beijing and Hong Kong — including the recently-opened Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou located on a private island.

Final Thoughts

While we don’t have much information on this property, announcing a new Four Seasons hotel (especially in a popular city like Shanghai) is always welcome news. While we await the opening of the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai, make sure to check out the brand’s other hotels in China and across Asia.
