More airlines are rolling out complimentary Wi-Fi on flights, and Air France is finally joining the club. The Paris-based airline now has a handful of planes with complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi available, and we know when all of the planes should have it available for complimentary use.

Here’s a look at the latest.

Air France announced earlier last year that it would roll out “ground-like” Wi-Fi in all cabins starting in the summer of 2025, thanks to Starlink connectivity.

The airline will gradually introduce the service on all its flights, including short-haul regional flights. For flights that aren’t yet equipped with Starlink, guests will have access to a complimentary “Message Pass” and the ability to purchase Wi-Fi.

Interestingly, the Wi-Fi will be available on multiple devices, so you can use the service on your phone, tablet, and laptop.

At present, Air France has a single Airbus A350 plane plus 2 Embraer 190 and 2 Airbus A220 aircraft flying with Starlink. The goal is that 30% of the fleet should have the service operating by the end of 2025, and the plan is for the entire fleet to have it installed by the end of 2026.

The service first flew on a flight from Paris to Hamburg with the Embraer 190 on September 1, 2025.

To use the Starlink Wi-Fi service, you will need an Air France-KLM Flying Blue account. However, it’s easy to sign up for an account, even if you don’t fly with the airline; you can simply register for an account here.

Currently, Air France offers 3 types of in-flight connectivity. They are:

  • Message Pass: Free messaging during flights
  • Surf Pass: Browse the internet for an hour or the duration of your flight
  • Stream Pass: Browse the internet and stream TV shows or movies during your flight

Roughly 90% percent of Air France flights are equipped with Wi-Fi, including its long-haul Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft, which are often used on flights to and from the U.S. First-class La Première passengers have access to free Wi-Fi during their flight.

In recent months, more airlines have opted for complimentary Wi-Fi to enhance the in-flight experience. Hawaiian Airlines was the first major airline to ink an agreement with Starlink, while JSX has had it as a key feature for a while now.

Meanwhile, both Qatar Airways and United Airlines are rolling out Starlink across their fleets. JetBlue is going with Amazon Project Kuiper, however — Starlink’s chief competitor.

Final Thoughts

Air France has started deploying Starlink Wi-Fi on its flights. Free Wi-Fi is a significant passenger-friendly move, especially as more airlines move away from time- or megabyte-based paid plans. By the end of 2026, all Air France flights should be connected with this ulta-fast service.
