Attention residents of the Cleveland area: we have good news for you!

On Thursday, June 8, 2023, ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines inaugurated service from Cleveland (CLE) to San Diego, California (SAN).

And in just about 2 weeks, on June 21, 2023, Frontier will launch a second new service from Cleveland to San Francisco (SFO).

“San Diego and San Francisco are two of America’s most popular travel destinations,” said Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President of Commercial at Frontier Airlines.

Here are the details of Frontier’s new routes from Cleveland to the West Coast.

Fly From Cleveland to San Diego and San Francisco With Frontier

The Denver-based carrier is expanding its route network from Cleveland.

Frontier’s nonstop flights to San Diego are the only nonstop service between the 2 cities, bringing with them new business and leisure travel opportunities for those living at both ends of the route.

While United Airlines already flies nonstop between Cleveland and its hub in San Francisco, Frontier’s fares (on average) appear to significantly undercut United’s when looking ahead to the route’s start date of June 21, 2023.

Once the San Francisco service starts, Frontier will fly to a total of 17 destinations from Cleveland.

“Our commitment to Cleveland is strong, and we’re excited to continue expanding at CLE,” said Shurz.

Hot Tip:

Our full airline review runs through everything to know about Frontier Airlines!

Both new routes will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320neo aircraft. The all-economy, state-of-the-art jets are the only ones in the airline’s fleet to offer the so-called “Stretch” seats.

These seats provide a few additional inches of legroom when compared to the 174 “regular” seats which can have as little as 28 inches.

Final Thoughts

Frontier Airlines’ California expansion in Cleveland will provide travelers with much-appreciated low-cost options. We have no doubt these new flights will be successful, especially because they’re launching right as the busy summer travel season is taking off.
