Frontier Airlines is pulling out all the stops to ensure it’s your rebound airline of choice.

After rival Southwest recently made some drastic changes, Frontier is offering passengers (for a limited time only) a free carry-on bag, free seat selection, and more.

“Some airlines are walking away from what travelers love, but we’re running towards it,” said Barry Biffle, CEO at Frontier Airlines.

Let’s take a look at the details of Frontier’s bold move to attract customers.

Frontier Offers Pretty Much Everything for Free

For the next week, until 11:59 p.m. ET on March 24, some Frontier passengers who book nonstop flights departing before August 18 will be eligible to enjoy the perks of the airline’s Economy Bundle for free. The Economy Bundle includes 1 free carry-on bag, free seat selection, and free flight changes.

Additionally, passengers who use the promo code FREEBAG when booking flights departing from May 28 through August 18 will receive a free checked bag.

There are a couple of restrictions to be aware of before getting excited. The promotional fare offer starting at $39 is only valid on flights departing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with a 21-day advance purchase caveat. The offer will not be available for flights departing on May 27, July 2, and July 5.

However, those restrictions don’t apply to the offers for the free economy bundle and checked bag promo code. The economy bundle offer is available on all nonstop bookings made for travel now through August 18, 2025, and the promo code for checked bags is available on flights between May 28 and August 18, 2025.

Finally, you’ll only be eligible to enjoy Frontier’s freebies on new flight bookings paid for directly via the airline’s website or mobile app.

Frontier’s offer is a direct response to Southwest Airlines’ sweeping changes announced last week, including the introduction of baggage fees for the first time in its history.

In a bold statement, Biffle hinted that if this promotion goes well for the airline, these limited-time freebies could become a permanent feature of flying Frontier.

Could this be the end of Frontier’s ultra-low-cost era?

Hot Tip:

For flights not included in Frontier’s latest promo, you might want to remind yourself of the ultra-low-cost carrier’s baggage restrictions and fees.

Final Thoughts

It’s always interesting to see how airlines respond to changes that competitor airlines make. We’ve seen tempting status match offers in the past, but this move by Frontier to completely change its business model by removing ancillary revenue fees is a new one.

My guess would be this appealing offer will influence where travelers spend their money. Will it be enough for Frontier to make the changes permanent? We’ll have to wait and see.
