Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines have been officially merged for quite some time, but there were some outstanding business items that needed to be addressed in order for the 2 carriers to be effectively 1.

Now, a couple of major items have been addressed. First, Hawaiian officially joined the Oneworld alliance today, April 22, 2026. And second, Hawaiian has transitioned its flight numbers to Alaska’s “AS” code, meaning the former “HA” code is no longer in use.

Here’s what to know about the latest development for Hawaiian Airlines.

Hawaiian Airlines Has Joined the Oneworld Alliance

We’ve known for a while now that Hawaiian Airlines would join the Oneworld alliance, as it’s now essentially the same airline as Alaska Airlines, which is already a Oneworld member. Now, as of today, that’s happened, and Hawaiian is a full member of the alliance.

This means that eligible Hawaiian flyers with Atmos Rewards elite status can receive Oneworld elite perks, including lounge access where available. It also means that other Oneworld flyers who have elite status through another member airline can receive these perks while flying Hawaiian.

Additionally, it means that Oneworld flyers will be able to earn and redeem miles and take advantage of any applicable elite perks on Hawaiian flights. However, we don’t yet know what the earning and redemption rates will be for Hawaiian flights, nor when partner airlines will begin adding award space they can sell to Hawaiian flights.

In the not-too-distant future, you can expect to be able to use Cathay Pacific Cathay miles or British Airways Club Avios, for example, to book award tickets on Hawaiian flights.

Hawaiian Moves to ‘AS’ Flight Numbers

Another major move was made today. After almost 100 years, Hawaiian Airlines officially retired its former “HA” flight code, and all of its flights now carry Alaska’s “AS” code. This is a major sign that the carriers are now 1, though their outward-facing brands will remain separate. This is good news for Hawaiian Airlines fans and, likely, for Hawaii residents, who see the airline as a symbol of Hawaiian identity and pride.

Completing these steps means the entire merger process is almost done, though it will be some time before it’s over, as the airline now has to negotiate a new, single contract with the workforces of both brands.

Final Thoughts

Hawaiian Airlines has joined the Oneworld alliance and retired its historic “HA” flight code. These are major milestones in its merger with Alaska Airlines, as the 2 carriers can now fully be seen as 1 airline.

A few steps remain before the merger is complete, but passengers shouldn’t notice many more changes from here on out.
