It’s been a lengthy process, but the finish line is in sight for the loyalty-related aspects of the merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.

We now know that the HawaiianMiles program will officially sunset on October 1, 2025, at which point only the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program will continue operating.

Here’s what you need to know about this upcoming change.

HawaiianMiles Integrates Into MileagePlan on October 1

We’ve known for quite some time that Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan would be the only surviving loyalty program after Alaska’s merger with Hawaiian Airlines, but now we have a date on which it’ll happen: October 1, 2025.

Since the announcement of the blockbuster merger, we’ve seen the airlines take a step-by-step approach to integration, with the 2 carriers inching ever closer over the last (almost) year.

Since the news broke in September 2024, there have been a number of moves toward full integration, including the ability to transfer miles between Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles, reciprocal perks and mileage earning, a status match, the ability to redeem miles on each airline, and more. There was even a glorious, but short-lived, loophole to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Mileage Plan, which went away on June 30, 2025.

Now, however, the 2 airlines have their focus set squarely on full integration. We don’t know whether changes are coming to the new Mileage Plan program, but a graphic shared by Hawaiian Airlines says that the new, combined program will be revealed soon, in August 2025.

At that point, HawaiianMiles will continue as usual until late September, when Hawaiian says that account actions will be “limited” in the week leading up to the integration. Finally, on October 1, the 2 programs will be fully combined, and HawaiianMiles will go the way of the dodo. Note, however, that all membership credentials and mileage balances will be transferred to the new Mileage Plan program.

As a reminder, no miles will be lost, and status levels will be matched to the new program.

Hot Tip:

A loyalty shakeup isn’t the only big thing happening at Alaska Airlines. The carrier has been building a long-haul network from its Seattle hub, and recently announced nonstop flights to Rome, Italy, that will begin in 2026.

What You Need To Do

There’s not much to worry about before the integration. Even if you don’t currently have a Mileage Plan account (and don’t plan to make one before integration), one will be created for you automatically, and all of your HawaiianMiles will be transferred in at a 1:1 ratio.

If you have accounts in both programs but haven’t linked them, you should do so to ensure the most seamless experience possible on October 1. You can link your accounts at Alaska’s website.

Final Thoughts

On October 1, Hawaiian Airlines’ HawaiianMiles program will cease to exist after it is completely integrated into the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program.

We’ll know more about the combined program next month, but in the meantime, make sure your accounts are linked so you’re as prepared as can be for the October 1 integration date.
