An Indianapolis college dormitory is getting a new life as a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel.

The hotel chain has announced that it will transform a dormitory on Butler University’s (Indianapolis) campus into a Curio Collection property. Here’s everything you need to know!

First Curio Collection Hotel in Indiana

Hilton will take over Ross Hall, an inactive dormitory on Butler University’s campus and transform it into a Curio Collection hotel, according to the university.

The hotel will have 105 guest rooms and suites, a restaurant, and meeting spaces. Neither Hilton nor Butler University have released a name for the upcoming hotel.

It will become Hilton’s first Curio Collection hotel in Indiana when it opens during the 2026-2027 school year (the university didn’t say exactly when). This will also be the first Curio Collection hotel on a university campus. Founded in 1855, Butler University is a liberal arts college with over 5,000 students.

The school (and, ostensibly, the hotel when it opens) is approximately 19 miles (or 30 minutes) from Indianapolis International Airport (IND), the city’s airport.

It appears that the hotel will be available for all guests visiting the city, not just visitors to Butler’s campus.

“Obviously, many guests will want to stay at this property because they are attending a basketball game at Hinkle Fieldhouse, seeing a Broadway show at Clowes Memorial Hall, or visiting campus for Homecoming or Family Weekend,” said Butler President James Danko. “But we believe that many travelers will view this hotel as a destination unto itself, simply because of its uniqueness and its beautiful campus surroundings.”

Bottom Line:

Butler says the hotel will participate in the Hilton Honors program when it opens, which means guests will be able to earn and redeem points at the property.

This is an extremely interesting move from Hilton, as it plans to open the first Curio Collection hotel on a college campus. While we don’t know much about the hotel, it will be a good option for Hilton loyalists looking to spend their points in Indianapolis.
