IHG has opened a new hotel in South Philadelphia near the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and South Philadelphia Sports Complex called the Holiday Inn Philadelphia Airport – Stadium Area. This new hotel is a conversion of an office building and will now serve as a key hotel for guests wishing to visit Philadelphia’s famed sports teams.

Location

The Holiday Inn Philadelphia Airport – Stadium Area is in an excellent location and will be walkable to Philadelphia’s 3 major stadiums:

  • Lincoln Financial Field, where the Philadelphia Eagles play
  • Citizens Bank Park, where the Philadelphia Phillies play
  • Wells Fargo Center, where the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers play, as well as numerous other concerts and year-round events

The hotel also features a complimentary airport shuttle that runs to Philadelphia International Airport every 30 minutes, 24-hours a day. To be able to fly into Philadelphia, get a complimentary shuttle to the hotel, and then be able to walk to the major sports stadiums is quite a combination, and it’s likely the rates will reflect this convenience.

The hotel is not particularly convenient to the downtown area, so if you’re looking to visit Center City or any of the historic areas, you can take the SEPTA subway downtown or utilize a rideshare.

The hotel has 10,000 square feet of meeting space, 206 guest rooms, and an on-site restaurant The Whit Restaurant and Lounge, named for the term you use when ordering a Philadelphia cheesesteak “whit” onions.

Standard king and 2-queen rooms are available, with increased rates for city or stadium views. There are also king and 2-queen suites with a sofa bed. Cash rates start around $128 or 21,000 IHG One Rewards points per night. You can also earn IHG One Rewards points and redeem IHG One Rewards points on stays.

When booking your stay, consider using the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, which earns up to 26x earnings per dollar spent at IHG properties. You could also use a card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, which earns 5x points on travel purchased through Chase Travel and 2x points on all other travel purchases. Ultimate Rewards points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to IHG.

Hot Tip:

Make sure to book your stay far in advance of any sporting games you wish to see, as the hotel will likely sell out on nights when Philadelphia teams are playing.

Final Thoughts

The Holiday Inn Philadelphia Airport – Stadium Area is fantastically located for those who want to visit 1 of Philadelphia’s 3 big stadiums or fly out of Philadelphia International Airport. The location can’t be beaten for these purposes, and it will be a nice points option for that area. The hotel is open and accepting reservations for booking immediately.
