IHG has announced plans for a new Holiday Inn Resort in Kasauli, India, one of the country’s preeminent resort destinations.

“The latest signing is [a] testament to our plans to tap into key leisure destinations across the country and [that] we are committed to continue with the growth momentum by bringing our brands to markets such as Kasauli,” said Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Let’s take a look at what we know so far about this upcoming property.

New Resort To Open in India’s Hill Country

Kasauli is a town in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It’s known for colonial architecture, stunning views of the Himalayas, a temperate climate, outdoor activities, dense forests, and more.

It’s situated near the cities of Shimla, Chandigarh, and New Delhi, the Indian capital city. Specifically, it will overlook a valley in the Shivalik Hills, which will provide guests with unforgettable views of the majestic snow-capped Himalayan mountain range.

The forthcoming 300-room property will likely cater more toward local tourism, as it’s the perfect place to escape from the big city into the fresh mountain air.

It’ll also cater to corporate retreats (the hotel will have a 2,300-square-meter meeting room) and those looking to have events such as weddings in an idyllic setting.

Elsewhere, the resort will have an all-day restaurant as well as a lobby lounge and bar, a fully-equipped fitness center, and a swimming pool.

How To Book

Unfortunately, we don’t have too much information about this hotel — not even a projected opening date.

But, as an IHG property, it’s all but guaranteed to participate in the IHG One Rewards program — and it’s relatively easy to earn IHG One Rewards points.

IHG offers 3 co-branded credit cards — 2 personal and 1 business — all of which are issued by Chase. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

IHG is expanding in India. Though this upcoming Holiday Inn Resort in Kasauli will likely appeal more to local travelers, we can easily see it becoming a great destination for those who have points to burn and who want to experience all the majesty of the Himalayas in a peaceful, “off-the-beaten-path” destination.

Something tells us this property will boast very competitive pricing — both in cash and points — making it a great opportunity to see one of the world’s most incredible destinations without breaking the bank.
