IHG is expanding its Hotel Indigo brand in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Let’s dive right in!

Historic Hotel Originally Built for the 1970 World Cup

Hotel Indigo Guadalajara Expo is located in the historic district of Chapalita. The 162-room hotel has a fitness center, a business center, a gift shop, a ballroom, meeting spaces, and an auditorium.

The original hotel is historic in its own right — it was built specifically for the 1970 World Cup and hosted soccer great Pelé and the Brazilian national team.

In announcing the news, IHG said it saw an “increase in desire” from IHG One Rewards members for more lifestyle brands in Mexico.

“We are excited to bring our brand to Guadalajara, which is not only Mexico’s second largest city but a cultural and technological hub, filled with distinct culture and character, as unique as each of our hotels,” said Carol Hoeller, Vice President of Hotel Indigo.

If you aren’t familiar, Hotel Indigo is a luxury IHG brand that draws inspiration from the local neighborhood, culture, and popular trends in food, drink, and design. Hotel Indigo has nearly 150 hotels open worldwide, with an additional 127 in the pipeline.

Booking Hotel Indigo Guadalajara Expo With Points

Hotel Indigo Guadalajara Expo is now open for guests and is participating in the IHG One Rewards program. That means you’ll be able to earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points at the property.

Like many Hotel Indigo properties, you won’t shell out a ton of points at this hotel, as award nights start at just 16,000 points for dates this fall.

Earning IHG One Rewards points is pretty simple. The hotel chain offers 3 IHG co-branded credit cards — 2 personal and 1 business — issued by Chase. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

There are other ways to earn IHG One Rewards points, even if you don’t have an eligible credit card. You can earn points for dining out when enrolling in the IHG One Rewards Dining program, using IHG Business Rewards and earning points for hosting qualifying events, or purchasing IHG One Rewards points.

Bottom Line:

Final Thoughts

Hotel Indigo is one of IHG’s premier brands, so opening a hotel in Mexico’s second-largest city makes complete sense. What’s even better is how affordable the hotel is using points, so make sure to add this hotel to your list if you’re visiting Guadalajara!
