Waldorf Astoria Osaka Opens, Mama Shelter Coming to Singapore, and Other Hotel News This Week

This was another busy and exciting week in the hotel world. Two luxury hotels have opened in Japan, and they are both bookable with points. Plus, several other hotels will open or reopen in Singapore, Ibiza, and more.

Hotel Openings

Waldorf Astoria Osaka, Japan

Located in the Umekita District, the much-awaited Waldorf Astoria Osaka has finally opened for guests. The hotel has 252 rooms and suites between the 31st and 38th floors, offering views of Osaka Bay and the Hyogo mountains.

Amenities include 3 restaurants, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, a library, a fitness center, and a swimming pool.

RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection by IHG, Japan

RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka has opened with an important distinction for IHG: it is the first Vignette Collection hotel to open in Japan. The hotel has undergone a significant rebrand and now features 1,000 newly remodeled rooms, including a 2,300-square-foot suite.

Amenities include a whopping 18 unique restaurants and bars, a fitness center, a pool, and event facilities featuring 56 banquet rooms. Getting around Osaka should be a breeze, as Nakanoshima Station is a 1-minute walk away, and the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to JR Osaka Station.

Radisson Hotel & Spa Gyumri, Armenia

The first Radisson hotel in Armenia, the Radisson Hotel & Spa Gyumri, has officially opened. The hotel has 64 guest rooms and offers a lobby lounge, a bar, and meeting spaces.

Staying at the hotel also gets you access to the Alexandra Spa Center, a 19th-century spa featuring saunas, hammams, pools, hot tubs, and spa treatments.

Sadu Hotel Almaty, a member of Radisson Individuals, Kazakhstan

Sadu Hotel Almaty, a member of Radisson Individuals, has officially opened as the brand’s first hotel in Kazakhstan. The hotel has 81 guest rooms, each boasting mountain views.

Mama Shelter Singapore (July 2025)

The popular Mama Shelter brand is coming to Southeast Asia with the planned summer opening of Mama Shelter Singapore.

The 115-room hotel will feature everything the brand is known for, such as boutique rooms, a signature restaurant and bar, a rooftop, and a pool. 

  • Opening Date: July 31, 2025

  • Typical Points Cost: Every 2,000 ALL – Accor Live Limitless points can cover 40€ (roughly $44) of your bill

Ruby Hotel, Denmark (2027) and Germany (2028)

IHG has inked deals for its first Ruby Hotel properties since acquiring the brand in February. A Copenhagen, Denmark, property with 219 rooms is scheduled to open in early 2027, and a Berlin, Germany, hotel with 375 guest rooms is expected to open in 2028.

Mondrian Ibiza Reopening for 2025 Season

If you’re looking for a getaway to Ibiza, Spain, this summer, you’re in luck, as the Mondrian Ibiza will officially reopen for the season on April 27, 2025. The hotel has refreshed event spaces and 2 new restaurants. Rates start around $302 per night.

If booking directly with Ennismore Dis-loyalty, you’ll get a 20% discount on first-time stays, plus 10% off repeat stays, 10% off food and beverage, and a daily complimentary hot beverage.

Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead Completes Renovation

The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead has officially completed a phased renovation. The hotel updated its 439 guest rooms and suites, but the most significant updates can be found outside of the rooms. Hyatt has introduced a new lounge, dubbed “The Fabled,” which overlooks a garden and waterfall. The hotel also refreshed 2 restaurants, its grand ballroom, and meeting spaces. A Category 3 World of Hyatt property, award nights at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead cost between 9,000 and 15,000 points per night, depending on dates.

You can also book a stay at Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead using a Hyatt Category 1-4 free night certificate. You can earn one of these certificates by staying at 5 different Hyatt brands (Brand Explorer), staying 30 qualifying nights in a calendar year, or having a Hyatt co-branded credit card.

Marriott Plans to Double Four Points Flex by Sheraton in Europe

Marriott has big plans for its midtier brand, Four Points Flex by Sheraton. Marriott said it created Four Points Flex to respond to “travelers seeking value-driven accommodations without compromising on quality and service.” Today, it has over 2 dozen hotels in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Türkiye, and the U.K. By the end of 2026, Marriott says the brand will double its presence in Europe, including new properties in its existing countries of operation plus Austria and France.

Final Thoughts

This was yet another exciting week in the hotel industry. The ultra-luxe Waldorf Astoria Osaka finally opened for guests, and it wasn’t the only high-end points hotel to open in the city. IHG also opened a Vignette Collection hotel in Osaka. Other exciting news included a new Mama Shelter hotel opening this summer in Singapore and the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, which is completing a major renovation.
