Hotel News

Masai Mara Park Fee Increase

Park fees at Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya have increased to $200 per person or $400 per couple, according to a post on the park’s website. Those rates go into effect from July 1, 2025, onward. You can pay the fee in cash, Kenyan shillings, or by credit card, depending on what entrance you use.

There are several ultra-luxe points hotels inside Masai Mara, including the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge and the upcoming The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, so this is a significant blow as a trip here is already pricey whether you’re using cash or points.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Gets Multimillion-Dollar Renovation

The high-end Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has gotten a makeover — to the tune of $20 million. Playa Hotels & Resorts announced this week that all 244 guest rooms in the North Tower have been updated with new AC systems, smart TVs, Nespresso machines, and new decor. Other updates include a new Asian fusion restaurant and a refreshed kids club, lobby, and pickleball court.

Final Thoughts

This was a busy week in the hotel world. Accor has opened 2 new hotels in India and Italy, and they are both extremely impressive. Hyatt, Marriott, and IHG have also grown in several markets, including Vietnam, Macao, and New Zealand. Finally, it’ll be more expensive to access the Maasai Mara National Reserve this summer.

As always, we’ll be back here next week with more exciting news from around the hotel world!
