All-inclusive resorts have a special appeal, especially for families who are looking for a simple vacation experience. At all-inclusive properties, you can show up to relax by the pool or enjoy the beach without worrying about extra costs — once you pay upfront, everything is included.

This post will focus on Hyatt’s family-friendly, all-inclusive brand, Hyatt Ziva. This brand consists of 6 resorts that all provide a fantastic vacation for the whole family. Food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are always included, as well as tons of activities and even the KidZ Club.

But perhaps the best thing about Hyatt Ziva resorts is that you can book them using World of Hyatt points! This ability adds yet another layer of value for Hyatt Ziva properties since all-inclusive resorts haven’t traditionally been part of hotel loyalty programs.

What Is Hyatt Ziva?

Hyatt Ziva Resorts are family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico that you can book using World of Hyatt points. Yes, this means your points will pay for all of your food and drinks, too — a great option for saving money on your next vacation.

While all of the Hyatt Ziva resorts are unique, there are some amenities you’ll be able to count on at all locations:

Food and beverages (including alcoholic drinks) are included
Most activities, including water sports, are included
Multiple pools
KidZ Club
Nightly live entertainment
Fitness center
Spa facilities (for an additional charge)
No resort fees

Hyatt Zilara is a brand of adults-only all-inclusive resorts that are similar to Hyatt Ziva and located next door to many locations.

How To Use Hyatt Points To Book Hyatt Ziva Resorts

While the process of booking a Hyatt Ziva resort with points is the same as booking any other Hyatt hotel with points, you need to pay attention to 1 detail — the number of people staying in the room.

Since Hyatt Ziva resorts are all-inclusive, the price is based on the number of people staying in the room, so it’s important you get that information correct — this is true whether you’re paying the cash rate or booking with points.

If you’re paying in points, each additional person in the room beyond 2 will cost half of the number of base points per night. For example, if a room for 2 people costs 20,000 points per night, it would cost 30,000 points per night for 3 people.

Staying at Hyatt Ziva Resorts With Kids

If you’ll be traveling with kids, be sure to enter what their ages will be at the time of check-in, not the time of booking. For example, if your child is 2 when you make the reservation but will be 3 when you travel, enter their age as 3.

Children 2 years and younger stay for free at Hyatt Ziva resorts, no matter how the reservation is booked. When booking a Hyatt Ziva with points, kids ages 3 and up will be the same price as an adult. However, when booking a cash rate, kids can be less expensive. So, it can sometimes make sense to book the room in points for 2 adults and then add a child to the reservation with cash (you may need to call 800-233-1234 to accomplish this).

For example, if it costs an extra 10,000 points per night for a couple to add a 4-year-old to their reservation, but that same child would only cost $60 to $110 per night in cash, it could make sense to pay for the child in cash. We value 10,000 Hyatt points at about $150, so in this case, it would be a better deal to pay for the child in cash instead of points.

While this trick might come in handy if you’re short on points or want to maximize every single point you use, know that you can still get a great deal by booking your whole family with points!

There are 6 Hyatt Ziva locations across Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Let’s take a look at each of these resorts to see what they offer and learn how to book them using points.

The costs listed here are averages based on double occupancy and can vary throughout the year. We’ve included each resort’s peak, standard, and off-peak price in points as well, and the cent-per-point values were calculated using standard award rates.

Use these values as a guideline, but keep in mind, you can get a higher (or lower) value depending on your specific travel dates. For reference, we value World of Hyatt points at about 1.5 cents each so it’s a good idea to focus on redemptions when the points value is higher than 1.5.

1. Hyatt Ziva Cancun (Mexico)

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a family-friendly, all-inclusive resort located at the north end of Cancún’s Hotel Zone, close to all of Cancún’s tourist activities.

Guestrooms at this all-suite property are furnished with contemporary Caribbean décor. Each of the 547 rooms features a spectacular bathroom with a rainfall shower, a refreshment center complete with soft drinks and beer, and a furnished balcony with beach or pool views.

Guests can enjoy the white-sand beach and clear waters right in front of the hotel, or they can choose to relax by one of the 3 infinity pools. Activities abound at Hyatt Ziva Cancun — there’s kayaking and snorkeling along with dance lessons, live music, and everything in between.

While this resort is great for the whole family, there’s a new adults-only beachfront tower called Turquoize for those wanting to avoid kids as much as possible. For kids wanting to avoid adults, there’s the KidZ Club and a kids’ water play area.

There’s no shortage of food or drink at Hyatt Ziva Cancun. Choose any of the resort’s 8 restaurants or 7 bars and lounges. You’ll find anything you could ever be craving, including casual oceanfront dining, upscale French and Italian cuisine, a classic American diner, buffet-style restaurants, food trucks, a dessert parlor, and a coffee bar.

2. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana (Dominican Republic)

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is a beachfront resort located about 20 minutes south of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Each of the 375 guest suites has a private patio or balcony and some even have direct pool access. Decorated in a contemporary tropical style, each suite has a minimum of 600 square feet, as well as a coffee maker, minibar, and a Hyatt Grand Bed.

There are tons of daily activities included in the room rate. Guests can try arts and crafts, dance classes, or even a virtual reality experience. In addition to the gorgeous beach, there are multiple infinity pools as well as a Canapolis Water Park with a lazy river and slides. The large fitness center has cardio equipment and weight machines as well as classes like Pilates, yoga, or Zumba. Kids will love the supervised activities at the KidZ Club while teens will enjoy the Teen Club with virtual reality simulators and Formula 1 racing games.

When hunger strikes, guests can choose any of the 12 restaurants and bars on the property, including a Caribbean buffet, a Mongolian grill, a sports lounge, a casual beachfront cafe, and more.

3. Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos (Mexico)

Located on the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, the beachfront Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is located less than 10 minutes from the town of San José del Cabo and overlooks the Sea of Cortez.

Guest rooms are modern and comfortable, ranging in size from 348 square feet to just over 2,300 square feet. All rooms have some type of terrace or balcony and some even have “swim-up” access from the pool.

There’s a daily rotation of activities, nightly live shows, a luxurious spa (treatments cost extra), and an oceanfront fitness center. Relax by one of the resort’s 4 pools, including an adults-only pool and a kid-friendly pool complete with a small waterpark. Speaking of kids, they’ll love the KidZ Club where they can join other kids aged 4 to 12 for supervised activities, indoor games, and playtime on the outdoor playground’s jungle gym or motorized mini cars.

There are 7 restaurants on-site serving everything from Spanish and Japanese to French and Italian cuisines. There’s also an open-air beach grill, an international buffet, and a poolside snack bar. Multiple bars throughout the property serve cocktails, coffees, smoothies, and more. All drinks and food are included in the room rate.

4. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta (Mexico)

Situated on Las Estacas Beach, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is a family-friendly resort where almost everything is included.

All 335 guestrooms and suites at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta boast a gorgeous ocean or garden view as well as other perks like complimentary Wi-Fi and an in-room beverage station. Special room categories include suites with swim-up access and balconies with hot tubs on them.

There are 5 swimming pools, including 1 that’s just for adults and 2 that are just for kids. Guests can grab a drink at the swim-up bar then relax in the infinity hot tub. Fitness classes and beach games are offered daily, while live entertainment is offered each night. The KidZ Club offers supervised daily activities including arts and crafts, swimming, games, and even special events like the sea turtle release program.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta offers an Italian trattoria, a traditional Mexican restaurant, and an Asian restaurant, in addition to the buffet and an open-air, beachfront restaurant. There are also plenty of bars and a coffee shop serving drinks and snacks all day.

5. Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun (Mexico)

The second Hyatt Ziva resort in the Cancún area is called Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun and it’s located in Puerto Morelos, about 40 minutes south of Hyatt Ziva Cancun. Open since September 2021, this is the newest Hyatt Ziva resort.

The resort’s 438 rooms all feature a private balcony or patio, a refreshment center, and a spa-like bathroom.

In addition to the 9 (yes, 9) swimming pools, this resort also has an oceanfront water park with multiple slides for all ages. The activities don’t stop there, though. There’s a fitness center, daily beach sports, sunrise yoga, wine tasting, dancing, live music, and more. Plus, there’s a huge 16,000 square-foot spa spread across 2 stories, as well as a KidZ Club.
