Christmas week is generally a slow one for new hotel openings. But that wasn’t the case this week, as some exciting projects caught our eye, including a new Luxury Collection hotel in Taiwan, a Mandarin Oriental reflagging in Spain, and more.

To catch up on everything, read below for our roundup of the most exciting hotel news this week.

Hotel Openings

The AMNIS, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Marriott is billing The AMNIS as a “foremost art-inspired luxury hotel,” and it’s clear to see why. The 147-room hotel was designed with water in mind, featuring water features and a tranquil atmosphere throughout.

Amenities include a pool, a sauna, a steam room, a fitness center, and 3 dining options. Located in Kaohsiung, the city (and hotel) is just 2 hours by train if you want to experience this swanky property. Keep in mind that this hotel is available only to guests 10 and over.

AC Hotel by Marriott Manila, The Philippines

AC Hotel by Marriott Manila is the brand’s debut in the Philippines, offering 160 guest rooms and suites, including some apartment-style suites

Marriott is rolling out all of the brand signatures the AC Hotel is known for. AC Hotel by Marriott Manila offers an AC Kitchen, serving local and international cuisines, the AC Lounge and the AC Bar, serving cocktails, and the AC Library, a relaxing space to unwind. Other amenities include an indoor pool and a fitness center.

Hyatt Place Busan Yeonsan, South Korea

Hyatt Place Busan Yeonsan has opened in South Korea’s second-largest city. The hotel features 160 guest rooms, each offering separate areas for work and relaxation. The hotel is located in Yeonsan, a business and transit hub.

The hotel offers some top-notch amenities for a Hyatt Place, one of Hyatt’s economical brands. Amenities include the brand’s signature Placery restaurant, serving Korean, Chinese, and Western fare, a swimming pool, and a fitness center.

AC Hotel Cartagena, Spain

Marriott has transformed a historic building in Cartagena, Spain, transforming it into the 100-room AC Hotel Cartagena. Amenities include a restaurant, AC Lounge, a fitness center, meeting spaces, and on-site laundry

The hotel is located in the center of Cartagena, a port city in Southeast Spain. It’s located near the port and attractions like the Castle of La Concepción and the Teatro Romano de Cartagena, a historic Roman theater.

Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, France

The ultra-luxe Rosewood brand has planted its flag in the French Alps. The hotel chain has opened the Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, which boasts just 51 guest rooms and suites

Amenities include ski-in, ski-out access, retail and ski-rental spaces, a spa, an all-day dining restaurant with a terrace, a kids’ club, a bar and lounge, and a cigar room.

The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort & Spa, India

The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort and Spa has officially opened in India and is Marriott’s 200th property in the country. The resort features 135 guest rooms, suites, and villas.

The resort offers a full suite of amenities to keep guests entertained. You’ll find a fitness center with Technogym equipment, an outdoor pool, a cricket turf, a pickleball/badminton/basketball court, several dining options, and a spa. The resort is about 25 miles from Jaipur International Airport (JAI) and about 40 minutes from Jaipur’s city center.

Upcoming Hotels

AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town, Arizona (February 2026)

AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town will open in February with 168 guest rooms and suites. The hotel will feature a restaurant and bar, a fitness center, a rooftop pool, and the brand’s signature AC Lounge, serving light bites and drinks.

The hotel will be located near attractions like the Scottsdale Arts District, shopping, and restaurants. The proprerty is expected to open for guests in February 2026; however, reservations aren’t available yet.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Mallorca, Spain (July 2026)

The former H10 Punta Negra is being rebranded into the ultra-luxury Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Mallorca. Located in the resort town of Calvià in Mallorca, this hotel will feature 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and 9 bungalows. All rooms will offer outdoor terraces or balconies, and some will feature private plunge pools.

Amenities include 6 restaurants, a spa, 2 outdoor pools, and a relaxation room. Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is just 20 minutes by car, while the main port, Puerto Palma, is a 12-minute drive.

Reservations are now available for stays starting July 12, 2026 — though at an eye-watering $2,600 per night!

The hotel is offering a sweet promo for guests who book early. You’ll receive daily breakfast, up to 10% off your stay, and a daily dining or spa credit.

The St. Regis Hotel & Residences Palm Hills Cairo, Egypt (2030)

Marriott will kick off a new decade with an exciting opening in Egypt, the St. Regis Hotel & Residences Palm Hills.

This mixed-use project, scheduled to open in 2030, will feature 150 guest rooms, 50 serviced apartments, and 150 residences. The hotel will offer views of the Great Pyramids of Giza and will be close to attractions such as the Grand Egyptian Museum and a golf course.

Amenities will include several dining options, a spa, a fitness center, several swimming pools, a children’s club, and more.

Hilton Expands in Africa With New DoubleTree Hotels

Hotel chains have invested in Africa in recent years, as the continent has become one of the fastest-growing tourism markets globally. 

Hilton is getting in on the action. There are several new hotels on the way, including a debut in Togo, targeting business and leisure travelers alike. All told, Hilton says it is on track to open more than 100 hotels across the continent

Here’s what Hilton has planned for the continent:

  • DoubleTree by Hilton Lomé Airport (Togo): Hilton’s debut in Togo will come from this 165-key hotel. Amenities will include a restaurant, a lobby café, an outdoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, a ballroom and meeting rooms. The hotel will be located directly across from Lomé–Tokoin International Airport (LFW), offering seamless access across Africa and globally.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Kintele (Republic of Congo): Slated to open in 2026, this hotel will feature 200 guest rooms and suites, a fitness center, a tennis court, a spa, and a beauty salon. Other amenities will include a lobby bar and terrace, a pool bar, and 2 restaurants.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Marrakech La Palmeraie (Morocco): This resort-style hotel will feature 228 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, several pools, a gym, a spa, and a paddle court. DoubleTree by Hilton Marrakech La Palmeraie will open for guests in 2028.

Final Thoughts

This was a surprisingly busy week in the hotel industry, with several luxury hotels opening in Taiwan, the French Alps, and India, among other locations. More exciting hotels are in the pipeline, including a Mandarin Oriental in Mallorca and a St. Regis coming to Egypt.
