This was another exciting week for hotel news, as new properties opened as close as Indianapolis and as far away as Qatar.

Hotel Openings

Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Costa Rica

The much-awaited Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, has officially opened for guests. We’ve covered this property before when it first opened for bookings. Nekajui is located along the Peninsula Papagayo, where several other luxe hotels, including an Andaz and a Four Seasons, also reside.

But Nekajui is among the best of the best. The resort is located in a 1,400-acre tropical forest atop coastal cliffs. It has 107 ocean-facing rooms and suites, as well as 3 treetop tents. You’ll find several dining options, a 27,000-square-foot spa, an infinity pool, beach access, and opportunities to interact with nature.

Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella, Spain

Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella has reopened in Spain following a huge renovation. Located in Marbella, just steps from the Mediterranean, this hotel has 195 guest rooms and suites with several room types.

Andaz Doha, Qatar

Doha has no shortage of luxury hotels, and another one is planting its flag in the Middle East city. The Andaz Doha offers 256 guestrooms, including 32 suites and 4 Royal suites.

The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) and close to City Center Doha Mall, the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC), Souq Waqif, and the Katara Cultural Centre. It has 3 dining outlets, a 6-treatment-room spa, an outdoor pool, the signature Andaz Lounge, and 4 studio spaces.

The St. Regis Shenzhen Bao’an, China

The 51-story St. Regis Shenzhen Bao’an has officially opened for guests in China. The hotel has 289 guest rooms and suites, floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the city or Qianhai Bay, 4 restaurants, the famed St. Regis Spa, a fitness center, an infinity pool, and more.

Additionally, the hotel is located 10 miles from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) — which, if you’re based in the U.S., can be reached nonstop from Los Angeles (LAX) with Air China.

InterContinental Indianapolis, Indiana

The new InterContinental Indianapolis is distinguished by being the first luxury hotel to open in the city in 20 years.

Set in a 1920s building, it has 170 guest rooms and suites and has undergone a $120 million restoration. The hotel also has 2 restaurants, a rooftop bar, and a 24-hour fitness center.

Armony Marival Resort & Spa Punta de Mita, Mexico

Accor has opened a new luxury MGallery hotel in Mexico. Armony Marival Resort & Spa Punta de Mita has 212 guest rooms and 56 suites with private balconies and terraces, offering views of the Pacific Ocean.

Amenities at the adults-only, all-inclusive resort include 3 restaurants, a spa with 7 treatment cabins, a gym, and an infinity pool.

Upcoming Hotels

Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, Thailand (April 2025)

The ultra-luxe Aman brand is opening a new outpost in Bangkok on April 2, 2025. Aman Nai Lert Bangkok will include 52 suites, a 16,000-square-foot spa, dining, and more. Getting around should be easy, as the hotel is between 45 and 60 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and 45 minutes from Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Prices here range between $1,500 and $1,700 nightly.

Hilton Signs for 3 Hilton Garden Inn Hotels in Southeast Asia

Hilton is growing its Hilton Garden Inn brand in Southeast Asia. The hotel giant announced 3 new hotels joining the portfolio: Hilton Garden Inn Hoi’An Tra Que Village in Hoi An, Vietnam; Hilton Garden Inn Kota Kinabalu Tuaran in Sabah, Malaysia; and Hilton Garden Inn Bali Nusa Dua in Indonesia. Here’s what you should know about each property: 

  • Hilton Garden Inn Hoi’An Tra Que Village will have 250 rooms, 5 dining outlets and bars, meeting spaces, a gym, and a pool. 
  • Hilton Garden Inn Kota Kinabalu Tuaran will have 160 rooms, an all-day restaurant, a fitness center, and a pool.
  • Hilton Garden Inn Bali Nusa Dua will have 159 rooms and suites, an all-day restaurant, a fitness center, a pool and a spa.

Hilton Brisbane Leaving Hilton Honors

A note on Hilton Brisbane’s website reads: “Please note that as of midnight April 1, 2025, the hotel will cease to operate as a Hilton hotel. To make a reservation at other Hilton hotels in the region, click the link below.” A link to alternate Hilton hotels in the region is provided. At present, the only other option for Hilton Honors members is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property, which is Ovolo The Valley.

Six Senses Announces Female Wellness Program

Six Senses is one of the world’s most luxe and exclusive hotel brands. The company recently announced a 3-, 5-, or 7-day female wellness journey aimed at supporting women during their monthly cycles. The journey includes support for female hormone cycles, fasting, blood sugar science and measurement, body composition changes, and sexual wellness.
