A busy week in the hotel world featured new Hilton properties in Key West and Langkawi, Malaysia, Trailborn’s first West Coast hotel, and more.

New Openings and Launches

Hilton Expands in the Florida Keys With the Hilton Key West Resort & Marina

The Hilton Key West Resort & Marina has opened, marking the chain’s 12th hotel in the popular vacation destination. The property, located on Stock Island, offers 175 guest rooms, including 86 suites, a range of locally inspired dining options, multiple pools, and access to boating and fishing.

Rooms are available from $240 or 72,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

Hilton’s Newest Southeast Asia Resort

Hilton has opened a brand-new resort in Malaysia. The Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is a beachfront property found between the rainforest and the Andaman Sea, featuring 251 rooms, 3 swimming pools, and 4 dining outlets. Guests will also find 5 “meditative rock pools,” a dedicated nature center, and the eforea Spa.

Rooms are available from $220 or 66,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

Trailborn Opens Its First West Coast Property

Trailborn, part of the Marriott Bonvoy family of brands, has opened its first property on the West Coast: Hillhouse at Trailborn Mendocino in California. Right now, the property has 44 rooms housed in the former Hill House Inn, and it will soon expand to include another property after the historic Mendocino Hotel reopens in 2027. In total, it will offer 89 rooms.

Rooms are available from $159 or 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Historic San Antonio Hotel Joins Marriott Bonvoy

After a $57 million renovation, San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel, in operation since 1909, has reopened as The Gunter Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Located in downtown San Antonio, it offers 311 guest rooms, including 30 suites, and 4 dining outlets. It also boasts a recording studio, a vinyl library, and record players in guest rooms.

Rooms are available from $125 or 33,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Future Hotels and New Signings

NoMad Hilton Singapore Coming Later This Year

Hilton’s NoMad brand will open in the heart of Singapore by the end of 2026. It will offer 3 distinct dining options: NoMad Grill, a New York-style steakhouse; Tropicana Club, a cabaret bar; Sticky Fingers, a concept that blends soft serve and cocktails; and Lú Bar, a poolside bar where guests can enjoy cocktails under sunny Singapore skies.

Alila Debuts in Japan in 2028

Hyatt’s Alila brand will plant its flag in Japan with the opening of the Alila Sengokuhara Hakone in 2028. Its location in Sengokuhara is popular with the Japanese and foreign visitors alike, who travel to experience its natural beauty, art museums, volcanic landscape, and stunning views of Mt. Kintoki. The setting should align well with the Alila brand’s mission of creating tranquil escapes rooted in nature.

Hyatt Regency Is Coming to Tucson

Hyatt has shared that it will spend tens of millions of dollars to convert an existing structure into the Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center. It will become the brand’s first property in the southern Arizona city when it opens in 2027. Adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center and other city landmarks, it will offer 291 guest rooms and suites, a fitness center, a gym, and more.

Other Industry News

IHG has announced a large expansion in China, with more than 15 properties opening across the country in the second half of this year. They span many of the chain’s brands, including InterContinental, Kimpton, Atwell, Garner, Holiday Inn Express, and more.

IHG is also expanding in another important market: Saudi Arabia. The chain said it will operate properties across all six of its so-called Luxury & Lifestyle brands in the kingdom by 2028.
