It was a pretty busy week in the hotel industry, as several luxury hotels and resorts opened in Los Cabos, Casablanca, and Zurich. Plus, there are some exciting projects on the horizon, including properties coming to Bali and Seville, Spain, plus a massive expansion by Marriott in South Asia.

Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, Mexico

Marriott has opened its first all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, located along the Sea of Cortez. Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, features 270 guest rooms and suites. Le Méridien Casablanca, Morocco

Marriott’s swanky Le Méridien brand has debuted in Morocco with the opening of Le Méridien Casablanca. The hotel offers 145 guest rooms and suites and a full slate of amenities, including a rooftop lounge, a spa, an indoor pool, a fitness center, plus several dining options ranging from Moroccan cuisine to gelato.

Hilton Turin Centre, Italy

Hilton Turin Centre has officially opened in the center of the Piedmontese capital. The hotel has 175 guest rooms, which include 36 suites and a presidential suite. The presidential suite is massive: It has a private balcony, a Turkish bath, a hydromassage bathtub, a full kitchen, and a living room. Amenities include a restaurant and bar, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and a spa.

Green Coast Hotel – MGallery Collection, Albania

Green Coast Hotel – MGallery Collection has opened on the shores of the Ionian Sea in Albania. The resort offers 131 guest rooms and suites, including a presidential suite.

Amenities include a restaurant and a bar, an infinity pool, a fitness center, and a spa. Interestingly, there is a handful of programming off-resort, including vineyard tours, Albanian cooking lessons, and honey-tasting experiences.

Mama Shelter Zurich, Switzerland

Ennismore’s high-end Mama Shelter brand will make its Swiss debut at the end of the month. Slated to open for guests on July 31, Mama Shelter Zurich will feature 178 guest rooms, plus amenities like a rooftop, a terrace open in the summer, a restaurant, a bar, a gym, and flexible workspaces

Upcoming Hotels

Diyar Ajwa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Saudi Arabia (2025)

Slated to open later this year, Diyar Ajwa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will become Hilton’s first Tapestry Collection in Saudi Arabia. The hotel will have 221 guest rooms and suites and include amenities such as an all-day dining restaurant, a cafe, and a fitness center.

Kimpton Bali Ubud, Indonesia (2026)

This week, IHG announced plans for the Kimpton Bali Ubud, which is scheduled to open in early 2026. The 101-room hotel — which will be IHG’s first in the Balinese town of Ubud — will feature several dining options, including a Japanese restaurant helmed by a Michelin-starred chef. Other amenities include a gym, a spa, and a pool. Kimpton Bali Ubud will be located just 90 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), the island’s main airport.

Four Seasons Seville, Spain (2027)

The ultra-luxe Four Seasons will open its third hotel in Spain in 2027, the Four Seasons Seville. The hotel will have just 60 guest rooms and suites and will be set in a transformed building designed by the Spanish architect Galnares Sagastizábal. Four Seasons is keeping mum about most hotel details, but we know it will have several restaurants, meeting rooms, a wellness area, and more.

Mondrian Arcaya, Portugal (2028)

It was a pretty big week for Ennismore. The hotel giant announced plans for the Mondrian Arcaya, its first in Portugal, scheduled to open in 2028. The hotel will offer 120 rooms, including 30 suites, all-day dining, a lobby bar, a poolside bar, and a rooftop restaurant with ocean views.

Marriott Inks Deal for 7 Hotels in South Asia

Marriott announced this week that it would open 7 hotels — comprising more than 1,500 rooms — in India and Sri Lanka in the coming years. Here’s a look at the hotels, all of which are expected to open in 2030:

  • Pottuvil, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve: The debut of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand in Sri Lanka, this resort will have 73 villas, each with a separate living area, sun deck, and infinity plunge pool. Amenities will include game drives, 2 restaurants, the Ritz-Carlton Spa, a gym, a water sports club, and programming for children.
  • JW Marriott Navi Mumbai: This hotel will have 450 guest rooms, 5 dining options, an outdoor pool, a spa, and a fitness center.
  • Moxy Navi Mumbai: This hotel will have 200 rooms and will be part of a dual-branded property with the JW Marriott Navi Mumbai. Amenities will include the Moxy Bar, Moxy Kitchen, and a fitness center.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Mundra: This 200-room hotel will feature an all-day restaurant, a cafe and bar, an outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness center.
  • Moxy Pune Kharadi: This hotel will also have 200 guest rooms, plus amenities like a restaurant and bar, and the signature Bar Moxy.
  • Varanasi Marriott Hotel: This hotel will have 161 guest rooms, plus amenities including 3 dining options, the signature M Club Lounge, a fitness center, a spa, and an outdoor swimming pool.
  • Moxy Pune Wakad: This property will have 264 guest rooms, plus the Bar Moxy, 2  meeting rooms, and a fitness center.

Final Thoughts

This was an exciting week in the hotel world, as several luxury hotels opened in destinations like Mexico and Morocco. Plus, there were openings in destinations we don’t hear about often, like Albania.
