World of Hyatt members can now book resorts in some of the most desirable national park destinations, thanks to the hotel chain’s newest partnership.

More than a dozen resorts from Under Canvas, an upscale camping experience provider, have now joined the Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio, the hotel chain announced today. Let’s take a closer look at the available locations and how much it’ll cost you in points and cash.

Under Canvas Properties Join the World of Hyatt Portfolio

If you like national parks and glamping experiences, you’ll be really excited about today’s announcement from World of Hyatt. The following luxury resorts from Under Canvas and ULUM are now available through the Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio via Hyatt’s booking channels:

These luxury camps offer “safari-inspired tents” and complimentary activities for guests, as well as on-site restaurants. Under Canvas properties even want travelers to immerse themselves in these beautiful settings, so no Wi-Fi or TVs are available.

“Travelers are looking for new and unique experiences to reconnect with nature in off-the-beaten-path locations. By adding these luxury outdoor camps to World of Hyatt, we are bringing more memorable travel experiences for our guests and members,” said Mark Vondrasek, Chief Commercial Officer, Hyatt. “Hyatt offers one of the fastest-growing luxury portfolios globally and with the inclusion of these incredible Under Canvas camps in World of Hyatt, we continue to double down on this focus and bring immense value to our rapidly growing member base.”

This move could largely be in response to Hilton’s recent partnership with AutoCamp. Likewise, members can earn and redeem Hilton Honors points for stays at some of these luxury camping experiences.

How To Earn and Redeem Points

World of Hyatt members will earn 5 base points per $1 spent on room rates at these qualifying resorts. In addition, they’ll rack up tier-qualifying nights, which will help loyalists continue to earn World of Hyatt elite status.

If you’re redeeming Hyatt points for a stay, these award rates are priced dynamically and do not match World of Hyatt’s standard award chart. That may come as a disappointment for some, but we generally found the nightly rates to be quite reasonable with points.

For instance, a deluxe room for 2 guests at the Under Canvas Zion will cost roughly 32,500 points per night in the fall. With cash rates costing over $500 per night, this redemption is generally on par with our latest valuations of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents apiece.

Hot Tip:

You’ll be able to earn a Brand Explorer award by staying at these glamping properties, which are part of the Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio.

Final Thoughts

There are increasingly many ways to redeem your hotel points for unique experiences. If you’re an outdoors enthusiast, this new redemption option from World of Hyatt and Under Canvas should appeal to you.
