IHG says it will develop 3 new hotels in Egypt from this year through 2026.
Egypt is one of the Middle East’s fastest growing travel destinations, so it makes sense that IHG would choose to expand in the country.
Let’s take a look at the news!
500+ New Rooms to IHG’s Egypt Portfolio
IHG says it will open 3 different brands across the country: the InterContinental North Coast Direction White, voco Cairo Arabella Plaza Cairo, and the Crowne Plaza Cairo Arabella Clubhouse. All are currently under construction, the chain says.
The voco Cairo Arabella Plaza is slated to open first, with a scheduled opening date of July 2023. The 77-room hotel will boast 5 dining options, a pool, a health club, and meeting spaces. The hotel is located just 20 minutes from Cairo International Airport (CAI).
Crowne Plaza Cairo Arabella Clubhouse will open in January 2026 and will have nearly 150 rooms. This hotel will be located in New Cairo, a satellite city in the eastern area of Cairo. The hotel will feature several food and drink options, a spa, a health club, and a pool. Like the voco, the Crowne Plaza will be a 20-minute drive from the airport.
Finally, the InterContinental North Coast Direction White is located on the Mediterranean sea at Ras El Hekma, opening in September 2026 with 346 rooms. Like the others, this hotel will have a pool, spa, and ample meeting space.
IHG says it’s expanding across Egypt due to increased travel demand to the country. The chain currently has 7 hotels across Egypt, including 2 Intercontinental hotels in Cairo, with another dozen currently in the pipeline.
“The signing of three new hotels alongside Arabella Group will support the growth we are witnessing in the country by offering new and compelling luxury and premium hospitality experiences to satisfy the most discerning of travelers,” said Haitham Mattar, IHG’s Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa.
How to Book
IHG says all 3 hotels will participate in the IHG One Rewards program, meaning travelers will be able to earn and redeem points at the properties.
The exact number of points that will be required to stay at the new properties is unclear. Still, IHG’s currently open properties are moderately priced. Even high-end properties such as the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis, which start at just 20,000 points per night for dates this spring.
The voco Cairo Arabella Plaza is set to open as soon as this summer. While we wait for IHG’s other new hotels to open, make sure to check out IHG’s portfolio of open properties in Egypt, which includes some sweet spots at high-end hotels!
