IHG Hotels and Resorts has unveiled its all-new rewards program, which is now called IHG One Rewards.
A few months ago, IHG announced that it would be revamping its loyalty program completely, and shared details of new elite tiers, including the addition of a new tier called Platinum Elite. And now, the chain has released more details of its new program, which will provide some benefits that IHG fans have been requesting for a long time.
“This is one of the largest and most comprehensive investments that IHG Hotels & Resorts has made in recent years. It’s also the biggest development we’ve made in the loyalty space since introducing the industry’s first loyalty program,” said Claire Bennet, Global Chief Customer Officer at IHG Hotels and Resorts.
Let’s take a closer look at what we know at this point about the brand-new IHG One Rewards program.
IHG One Rewards
On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, IHG shared a press release in which it highlights the 3 major pillars of its revamped rewards program: faster earning, improved benefits, and expanded choice.
Here’s what all this means for you.
Earn Rewards Faster
Beginning today, April 13, 2022, One Rewards members will earn tier and bonus points more quickly under a new earning structure that we first learned of at the beginning of this year.
| Qualification Nights | Qualification Points | Bonus Point Earning |
Silver Elite | 10 | N/A | 20% |
Gold Elite | 20 | 40,000 | 40% |
Platinum Elite (new) | 40 | 60,000 | 60% |
Diamond Elite | 70 | 120,000 | 100% |
Members should see the changes reflected in their accounts on or before April 17, 2022.
Enhanced Benefits
IHG loyalists have been wanting a free breakfast perk for elite members for quite a while now. And IHG listened to its customers’ feedback — complimentary breakfast for 2 will now be offered to Diamond Elite members as one of their welcome amenity choices.

Elite members will also now be more likely to receive early check-in, late checkout, and room upgrades. Diamond and Platinum members will be entitled to suites if they’re available, or other premium room types if not. All of these perks will continue to be subject to availability.
Finally, all elite members will now benefit from Milestone Rewards. This program has been designed to give IHG’s most loyal members a say in choosing the benefits they receive when climbing through the ranks of the program.

At 20 nights stayed per calendar year (and every 10 nights thereafter, up to 100 nights), members will unlock the ability to choose from a range of additional benefits including points, $20 food and beverage credits, confirmable suite upgrades, and annual lounge memberships.
This gives members the opportunity to curate their own package of perks that suit their individual preferences.
Final Thoughts
IHG’s all-new One Rewards program looks — at least on paper — like it’s been designed with the desires of its members in mind. The chain noted that complimentary breakfast was a very highly requested benefit among its members, and it listened. Further, the ability to customize a benefits program as you stay more nights with the chain adds another layer of personalization that members are sure to appreciate.
The introduction of IHG One Rewards signals that IHG is serious about competing with its peers including Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, and World of Hyatt.
