What Are IHG Points & Cash Stays?

IHG Points & Cash operates a little differently than other hotel chains. Rather than set a fixed cash rate and a fixed points rate, IHG One Rewards essentially takes the total all-points rate for the night you want to stay in a hotel and then divides it into half-points-half-cash rate. The cash rate is equivalent to purchasing the other half of the reservation in points.

It will likely only benefit those who are truly short on points. As a result, you’re not really saving anything by purchasing the points for the other half of the reservation. Should you need to cancel your reservation, you’ll only receive points back for the entire stay since the cash portion is non-refundable. This is a true outlier for hotel programs.
