There’s a huge welcome bonus offer on the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card, and it’s one you should pay attention to. While this $0-annual-fee card might often be overlooked, it’s a great option, even for infrequent IHG guests like me.

Let’s jump into the details of this new welcome offer — and why I plan on keeping this card even though I’m not a frequent IHG guest.

IHG Traveler Card Welcome Bonus Offer

There’s an incredible new welcome bonus offer on the IHG Traveler card:

  • Earn up to 125,000 points. Earn 90,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months, plus an additional 35,000 points after spending a total of $4,000 in the first 6 months.

We value IHG points at 0.5 cents each, which makes these bonus points worth $625 for hotel nights. That’s excellent for a $0-annual-fee card — and 50% higher than the standard welcome offer!

Hot Tip:

There are tons of ways to redeem IHG points for lots of value. A few years ago, I booked a $10,000 stay using IHG points plus $400 out of pocket (that location remains my favorite IHG hotel to date).

IHG Traveler Card Benefits

Even though the IHG Traveler card has a $0 annual fee, it comes with a solid list of bonus categories, allowing you to earn lots of IHG One Rewards points.

  • 5x points at IHG hotels, plus an extra 2x points due to the card’s automatic Silver Elite status. Combined with the 10x points you earn as an IHG member, that means you earn a total of 17x points at IHG hotels with this card.
  • 3x points on monthly bills (utilities, internet, cable, phone, select streaming), gas stations, and restaurants
  • 2x points on all other purchases
  • Earn 10,000 points after spending $10,000 in a calendar year

If you spend exactly $10,000 on this card each year, you would essentially be earning an additional 1 point per $1 on that spend.

Additionally, the card includes even more benefits:

  • Gold Elite status after spending $20,000 in a calendar year
  • Fourth night free on award bookings of 3 consecutive nights or more
  • 20% saved on purchases of IHG points with the card
  • Early access to reward night sales
  • Purchase protection

Why the IHG Traveler Card Is Worth It

I don’t stay at IHG hotels often, so why do I have the IHG Traveler card? It’s simple. This card comes with a very valuable benefit: the fourth night free on award bookings.

With this perk, when you book 4 consecutive nights at an IHG hotel with points, you only pay for 3. That benefit alone makes this card worth keeping in the long term, and it’s why I think it’s the best no-annual-fee hotel card out there.

This benefit can save you a ton of points on 4-night stays at some of the most desirable luxury IHG hotels. I used it to save 70,000 IHG points (worth about $350) on a stay at the Kimpton Seafire in Grand Cayman.

Hot Tip:

The fourth-night-free benefit also comes on the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card and the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card. However, I don’t stay at IHG hotels enough to justify having a card with an annual fee, especially when I can get that benefit on the IHG Traveler card without paying an annual fee.

Final Thoughts

The IHG Traveler card comes with a benefit that even infrequent IHG guests can benefit from: the fourth night free on award stays, which is handy for stretching the value of your rewards.
