First class is coming to a JetBlue flight near you in 2026.

The New York-based leisure carrier will introduce a new class of service specifically for domestic passengers looking for a more premium experience when they fly.

The news coincides with JetBlue’s current premium focus, which will also see the opening of its first lounges in 2025.

While details of the new seats are scarce, here’s everything we know so far.

What Will JetBlue’s Domestic First Class Look Like?

Investing in a more premium travel experience is crucial for survival these days. Even Frontier Airlines will be introducing first class seats.

Less shockingly, now it’s JetBlue‘s turn, whose CEO Joanna Geraghty confirmed in an interview with Wall Street Journal that first-class seats will be introduced in 2026.

Neither images nor an in-depth description of the product has been revealed just yet. What we can expect is a 2-2 configuration similar to what you’ll find when flying other U.S. carriers on domestic routes.

JetBlue confirmed to Upgraded Points that the new first class seats will be installed on all JetBlue aircraft that don’t have Mint — the airline’s lie-flat business class product.

This includes Airbus A320s with 3 rows of the new first-class product. JetBlue’s A220s will feature just 2 rows.

When questioned on how the addition of larger first-class seats would impact the economy cabin, JetBlue confirmed that its industry-leading legroom wouldn’t be reduced to be tighter spacing than other carriers have.

We can expect details, such as pricing and TrueBlue loyalty program benefits, to be revealed closer to the launch date.

More Changes Are Afoot for JetBlue

2025 is set to be a big year for JetBlue with the opening of its first-ever lounges in Boston (BOS) and New York (JFK).

Similar to the new first-class seats, the opening of lounges brings JetBlue’s customer experience proposition further from the low-cost model on which it was founded.

Additionally, JetBlue will shake up its transatlantic route network with Madrid (MAD) taking the spotlight as the airline’s newest European destination from May 2025. This comes as other routes are cut while the airline focuses on profitability.

Bottom Line:

JetBlue is an industry trendsetter, constantly evolving and adapting to ensure its success. With developments like a new first class, premium lounges, a growing transatlantic network, its first premium credit card, rebranding its extra legroom seats, and a revamped loyalty program to boot, there’s a lot for JetBlue passengers to be excited about.

Final Thoughts

With the addition of a first-class product on domestic flights, JetBlue is significantly diversifying its options for passengers. From 2026, each JetBlue plane will offer a premium product, whether it’s the new first class or a lie-flat Mint business class seat.

We’re looking forward to experiencing the new first-class seats, lounges, and routes for ourselves!
