Marriott announced in a press release today, February 5, 2025, that it had officially opened the doors of its second JW Marriott property in the Maldives: the JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort.

“JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island embodies our dedication to blending unparalleled luxury with holistic well-being, offering guests a peaceful escape where every detail is designed to inspire balance and rejuvenation,” said Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader of the JW Marriott brand.

Here’s everything you need to know about this brand-new resort, which is sure to be welcome news for fans of Marriott properties!

JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort Now Open in the Maldives

The Maldives, one of the world’s most desirable vacation destinations, is now home to 2 luxury properties from the JW Marriott brand.

The latest, JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, has officially opened its doors and is welcoming guests. This brand-new JW Marriott property is easily reachable by way of a 15-minute speedboat ride from the nation’s main international gateway, Velana International Airport (MLE) in the capital city of Male.

JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll has a total of 80 private pool villas, with 47 of them being overwater. Whether you find yourself in a beach or an overwater villa, you can expect plenty of room to spread out inside, a spacious terrace, stunning Indian Ocean views, and access to natural lagoons for exploring, swimming, and more.

The resort’s design philosophy marries traditional Maldivian elements with modern touches that today’s travelers have come to expect. A particular focus was placed on indoor-outdoor living, boasting features like floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to create a seamless connection with the natural environment, open-air showers, private pools, and more.

The JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll boasts an impressive 7 restaurants and bars, offering a diverse menu ranging from delicate pastries to succulent steaks and local Maldivian fare. Guests can also arrange private dining options for an extra-special meal.

The overwater spa, Spa by JW, offers innovative treatments focused on skin rejuvenation. Families will be pleased to learn that there are dedicated clubs for kids and teenagers. Of course, there’s a fully equipped fitness center, a dedicated lap pool, and plenty of on-the-water activities available.

How To Book

The JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, which allows members to earn and redeem points for stays.

JW Marriott is one of Marriott’s higher-end brands, and this property is located in the Maldives, so you can expect to pay handsomely for a stay.

If you’re interested in a trip this month, you can book a guest room from ~$850 per night. Alternatively, you can redeem as low as 70,000+ Marriott Bonvoy points per night for an overwater villa, making some nights eligible for a free night certificate with select Marriott co-branded credit cards.
