IHG is continuing its expansion in Monterrey, Mexico, with a new Kimpton hotel coming to the city in 2026.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming hotel.

New Kimpton Scheduled in Torre Rise in Monterrey

Kimpton Monterrey will have 120 guest rooms and suites, plus 60 private residences.

Amenities will include an indoor pool, sauna, massage treatment rooms, a full-service restaurant, a lobby lounge, plus Kimpton-specific perks like a daily social hour and pet-friendly policies.

The hotel will be in the mixed-use Torre Rise, which will be the tallest tower in Latin America when it opens, and the Kimpton open for guests in 2026.

“We are delighted to continue growing our luxury and lifestyle presence within Mexico, and Kimpton Monterrey is poised to bring its distinct perspective, refined style and innovative restaurants and bars to this key international market,” said Leanne Harwood, managing director of luxury and lifestyle.

Other IHG Hotels in Monterrey

The IHG One Rewards program offers about a dozen hotels in Monterrey, but its best hotel isn’t even open yet.

Earlier this year, IHG announced its sixth InterContinental hotel in Mexico, the Presidente InterContinental Monterrey. The hotel has nearly 300 guest rooms and suites and caters to leisure and business travelers. Located in Monterrey’s poshest neighborhood, San Pedro Garza Garcia, the hotel will have 2 restaurants, a bar, a gym, and event facilities.

While the hotel was slated to open in the winter of 2024, it appears that’s been pushed back to February 2, 2025. If you’re interested in booking a stay at the hotel, cash rates start at $281 per night next year.

If you choose to redeem IHG One Rewards points for a free night award, rates here start at 50,000 points per night.

IHG One Rewards doesn’t utilize an award chart. That means award redemptions can cost more or less depending on factors such as season and demand.

Still, IHG makes it incredibly easy to earn points. The hotel chain offers 3 credit cards, all issued by Chase. Additionally, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Clearly, IHG sees Monterrey as central to its growth in Mexico. Monterrey boasts Mexico’s second-largest economy, after Mexico City, and is a major financial hub. Therefore, opening a Kimpton there makes sense — even if it comes just a year after opening a high-end InterContinental. We’ll keep an eye out on this property and will update this post when we have an exact opening date.
