Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced a new hotel opening in Mexico City.

Here’s what you need to know about this new boutique hotel — and how to book it with points!

New Boutique Hotel Opens in Mexico City’s Polanco

Kimpton Virgilio has just 48 guest rooms and suites and is located in the bustling Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City. The largest option, the 1 Bedroom Spa Suite Atrium View, covers more than 600 square feet and has a private terrace, a walk-in shower, and a separate bath.

Boutique hotels typically offer few amenities to maximize space. However, Kimpton Virgilio has impressive amenities, including a restaurant, a gym, a rooftop pool, and pet-friendly accommodations.

The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from Mexico City International Airport (MEX).

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is 1 of IHG’s premier brands. It is known for sophisticated design choices and a one-of-a-kind guest experience. Today, there are 75 Kimpton hotels and more than 100 restaurants, bars, and lounges around the world.

How To Book Kimpton Virgilio With Points

Kimpton Virgilio is open to guests and participates in the IHG One Rewards program. This means you’ll be able to earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points during your stay.

Cash rates are pretty decent for a stay in Mexico City, starting at around $300 nightly this winter.

Award rates are also reasonably priced, starting at 55,000 points per night in December. That’s a pretty good deal for Mexico City, which is 1 of the region’s most popular cities for tourists.

IHG One Rewards points are pretty easy to earn, especially with a co-branded IHG One Rewards credit card. However, you can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Hot Tip:

If you opt to book with cash, the hotel is offering 15% off nightly rates and double points for IHG One Rewards members! There’s no end date listed at this time, but don’t expect that offer to last forever.

Final Thoughts

Kimpton Virgilio is the best of both worlds: a boutique property with the ability to earn and redeem points in a major loyalty program. While Mexico City has no shortage of high-end properties, there are only a few luxury IHG properties.

If you’ve been considering a trip to Mexico City — whether to explore its food scene, music, or architecture — the new Kimpton Virgilio is one hotel to certainly consider.
