German flag carrier Lufthansa has announced that it will fly its behemoth Airbus A380 to Denver (DEN) from its Munich (MUC) hub starting in late April of this year. This will mark the first scheduled A380 service to the Colorado hub in the airport’s history.

“The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa, but also for the airport itself. It is the first time that a scheduled flight with an aircraft of this size will land there. Passengers, airport visitors, and crews love the A380, the flying experience, and the feeling of space,” said Heiko Reitz, CCO of Lufthansa Airlines.

Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting development for flyers.

Lufthansa Bringing Its A380 to Denver

Beginning April 30, 2025, Lufthansa will begin nonstop A380 service between Munich and Denver. The flight will operate daily according to the following schedule:

  • Depart Denver (DEN) 4:15 p.m. — Arrive Munich (MUC) 10:50 a.m. (+1)
  • Depart Munich (MUC) 11:15 a.m. — Arrive Denver (DEN) 1:45 p.m.

Lufthansa’s A380s offer a whopping 509 seats in total across 4 classes of service. There are 8 seats in first class, 78 in business class, 52 in premium economy, and 371 in economy.

Denver will become the sixth destination served by the A380 from the airline’s Munich hub, joining Boston (BOS), New Delhi (DEL), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), and Washington, D.C. (IAD).

Together with its Star Alliance partner United Airlines, there will be 4 daily nonstop flights between Denver and Germany this summer: 2 to Frankfurt (FRA) and 2 to Munich. United mostly operates Boeing 787 aircraft on the routes it flies to Germany.

This increase in capacity will help more American travelers reach Europe quickly and easily. It will also help those based in Europe who have plans to visit North America, as United’s Denver hub provides connections to an additional 170 onward destinations, with especially convenient access to the American West.

Final Thoughts

We’re thrilled to learn that Lufthansa will begin flying its A380 to Denver in late April. Just a few years ago, there was a very real possibility that we’d seen the end of the vast majority of commercial A380 service. Now, however, yet another American city will see regular service from the world’s largest passenger jet.

If your travel plans take you to Germany or beyond this summer, you’ll definitely want to consider booking a flight across the Atlantic with Lufthansa so you can try out this very special aircraft for yourself!
