Malaysia Airlines just announced big changes to its Enrich loyalty program that will take effect in 2026. These include higher mileage and elite points earnings, but also include increased elite requirements for all status tiers.

Here’s what you need to know about these changes.

Malaysia Airlines Enrich Program Changes

Malaysia Airlines Enrich is the loyalty program behind Malaysia Airlines and Firefly. It can also be used to earn and redeem miles with other Oneworld airlines like American Airlines and British Airways. Since there’s no spending requirement — qualification is solely based on earning elite points — it’s a popular program for Americans to earn Oneworld elite status.

As mentioned, the program has announced sweeping changes that take effect next year, and they’re a mixed bag. Getting the bad news out of the way first, the program will substantially increase the number of elite points required to earn all status tiers, and top-tier Platinum elites will lose airport lounge access for guests.

Here’s a look at the updated status requirements:

To soften the blow, Malaysia Airlines announced that it will award more elite points when you fly with Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, or a Oneworld partner airline. Increased elite point earnings apply to all flights except those under 500 miles in any cabin and economy flights under 1,200 miles.

Here are the elite points earned by zone and class:

Further, the airline will increase the number of redeemable Enrich points elite members earn on Malaysia Airlines and Firefly flights.

Finally, the airline announced a handful of more minor changes to the program as well:

  • Points + Cash bookings will be eligible to earn 1 elite point per flight.
  • Seat upgrades on Malaysia Airlines will earn elite points based on the cabin flown.
  • Earn 1 elite point per 8,000 Enrich points earned per Enrich Hotels reservation.
  • Enrich Silver elites receive 10kg of additional baggage allowance and priority baggage handling.

Final Thoughts

It’s unfortunate to see Malaysia Airlines increase elite requirements across the board, but with increased elite point earnings for most flights and new ways to earn elite points, the higher requirements may not affect all Malaysia Airlines elites. Likewise, having higher earn rates for redeemable Enrich points is a nice change, as this makes it easier to get closer to your next award ticket.
