Marriott announced today, May 24, 2022, that it had signed agreements for 2 new hotels in Italy: the W Milan – Duomo and W Naples.
Here’s what you need to know.
Italy Will Soon Be Home to Several New W Hotels
Marriott says both hotels are expected to open in 2024, but it’s unclear exactly when. And, of course, hotel openings are always subject to change.
This development comes less than a year after Marriott signed an agreement for the W Florence, which is slated to welcome guests next year.
The W Milan – Duomo is expected to have 166 rooms and 36 suites, including an “Extreme WOW Suite.” Similar suites at the W Brisbane, for instance, feature a penthouse accommodation with a fully-stocked bar.
The hotel will be located near famous attractions like Piazza del Duomo, Teatro alla Scala, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and will be just a 3-minute walk from incredible shopping at Via Montenapoleone. It’s expected to feature a WET deck, the W hotel’s signature bar, a rooftop bar, a restaurant, a fitness space, and a spa.
The W Naples will be within walking distance of Molo Beverello Port and will feature 78 guestrooms, including 17 suites, several of which will offer private terraces.
“We are thrilled to announce the signing of W Milan – Duomo with Gruppo Marseglia and W Naples with Solido S.p.A. The spirited cities of Milan and Naples have long been a destination of choice for global jetsetters, and we’re delighted to answer to the growing demand for luxury lifestyle hotels with these two significant signings,” said Gianleo Bosticco, Senior Director Development for Italy at Marriott.
The W brand falls within Marriott’s luxury family and emphasizes the guest experience through a focus on music, food, design, and fashion. There are nearly 60 W hotels in more than 25 countries and territories.
Marriott already has more than 5 dozen properties scattered across Italy, including the recently opened W Rome, the Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan, and the Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo.
The brand also has plans to expand, with Portugal, Greece, Scotland, and the Czech Republic all slated to become home to W properties in the coming years.

This is exciting news, especially for fans of the W brand. There’s only 1 W hotel in Italy open right now, in Rome, but soon travelers will have 3 new options, including the W Florence which is expected to open in 2023.
