Earlier this year, Marriott announced a massive plan to acquire the boutique citizenM brand.

But now, we have more details about Marriott’s plan to integrate CitizenM into the Marriott Bonvoy program, including the perks elite members will enjoy on these stays. Let’s take a look.

Details on citizenM and Marriott Partnership

Marriott has officially started integrating citizenM into the Marriott Bonvoy program.

According to an article on Marriott’s website, members will earn 10 points per $1 spent and 1 Elite Night Credit per qualifying night. Additionally, citizenM will soon phase out its mobile app, so guests will need to use the Marriott Bonvoy app to view their reservations.

Marriott says guests will be able to redeem points for stays at citizenM hotels, and it appears that some hotels, such as citizenM Washington, DC NOMA, have been rolled over to Marriott Bonvoy. We’re seeing cash rates available for reservations; however, award pricing isn’t available yet.

So far, we’re seeing 13 citizenM properties available on Marriott’s booking channels — less than half of the 37 open properties.

About citizenM

If you aren’t familiar, citizenM is a boutique chain with more than 3 dozen hotels in cities like Amsterdam, New York, and Paris. Marriott acquired CitizenM earlier this year in a blockbuster $355 million deal.

The brand is known for offering quality stays in prime locations at affordable prices for leisure and business travelers. You can expect vibrant coworking spaces, funky (but small) rooms, and exciting restaurants and bars.

As a reminder, mycitizenM+ is citizenM’s paid membership program. It costs $120 (but will increase to $170 after October 28), and includes the following benefits:

  • 15% off when booking direct
  • 2 p.m. late checkout
  • Up to 30% off during sales
  • 15% off food and drinks (except breakfast)
  • 15% off societyM meeting rooms
  • Free coworking (except in Taipei)
  • Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status benefits

Final Thoughts

We have some more details about Marriott’s integration of citizenM into the Marriott Bonvoy program. We know that guests will earn 10 points per $1 spent on citizenM stays and that higher-tier elite members will earn additional benefits, such as 4 p.m. checkout and guaranteed room types.

Some details remain a mystery, such as how much an award stay might cost using Marriott points, but we’ll keep an eye out for those details.
