Marriott Unveils Valuable New Perk for Ambassador Elite Members

Marriott has made a new perk available to its most loyal Marriott Ambassador Elite members that is sure to be very valuable. However, not all Ambassador Elite members are eligible to use this new perk.

Here are the details of the new benefit and how you can qualify for it.

New Marriott Ambassador Elite Plus One Benefit

The new benefit, called Ambassador Elite Plus One, allows qualifying Ambassador members to gift Ambassador Elite status to 1 person who shares the same Marriott Bonvoy account address as them, including a companion, spouse, or significant other.

This will grant that companion all of the standard benefits of Marriott Ambassador Elite status during their stays at Marriott properties, even when they travel without the primary Ambassador Elite member.

Better yet, the recipient will hold Ambassador Elite status for a minimum of a full calendar year — and may potentially have it for even longer. For instance, if a member is given the Ambassador Elite status benefit before the February 1, 2026, deadline for elite status renewal, the member will enjoy Ambassador Elite status through the end of 2025, throughout all of 2026, and then expire in February 2027.

There’s a catch, though: In order to unlock the Ambassador Elite Plus One perk, you’ll need to earn 100 elite qualifying nights and reach $40,000 in annual qualifying spend. That’s higher than the usual $23,000 in spend required for Ambassador Elite status.

Final Thoughts

If you’re getting excellent value out of your Ambassador Elite status, sharing that status with a companion for those times when they travel without you could be a great perk. That said, given that it requires $17,000 in additional annual spending, it isn’t something you should go out of your way to qualify for.

On the other hand, if you’re someone who would earn 100 elite qualifying nights and spend $40,000 at Marriott properties in a year normally, then being able to gift someone at your address with their own Ambassador Elite status is a nice cherry on top.
