Marriott Bonvoy’s EDITION is one of the chain’s swankiest brands and can be found in prime cities such as New York and Miami.
Marriott has announced its plan to double the brand’s footprint in the coming years — here’s what you need to know.
5 New EDITION Properties Coming in 2023
On December 7, 2022, Marriott announced that the EDITION portfolio — a brand comprised of luxury boutique hotels — would double in size to 30 properties worldwide by 2027.
Of those 15 new properties debuting in the coming years, 5 are slated to open in 2023. These include EDITION properties in Ginza, Jeddah, Rome, Riviera Maya, and Singapore.
The Rome EDITION will become the brand’s first in Italy, featuring 93 rooms and suites and 2 penthouse rooms with private terraces. The hotel is planned to open in the spring of 2023.
The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai, scheduled to open next summer, will boast 180 rooms and suites and feature 6 food and beverage options.
Next summer, fans of the EDITION brand can expect the opening of the EDITION’s third Middle East hotel with the arrival of the 63-room Jeddah EDITION in Saudi Arabia, and the 78-room Tokyo EDITION, Ginza.
Finally, the Singapore EDITION, scheduled to open in the fall of 2023, will be the brand’s first in Southeast Asia. This 190-room property will feature 5 restaurant and bar options and be located in a central downtown neighborhood.
Additionally, Marriott is also announcing that the first standalone EDITION-branded residences will open in 2026 and 2027 in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood and Fort Lauderdale, respectively.
“EDITION’s rapid hotel growth and the interest from the development community to build standalone residences clearly illustrates the strength of the brand,” said Josh Fluhr, senior vice president at EDITION Hotels, in a statement.
“Extending our luxury lifestyle hospitality brand into the standalone residential arena provides our most loyal guests an opportunity to literally live the EDITION lifestyle without leaving home,” the statement continued.
EDITION’s Rapid Expansion
Fluhr went on to say that Marriott expected that the EDITION brand would operate in 20 destinations across three continents by the end of 2023.
It doesn’t appear that Marriott is wasting any time in making that happen.
This year saw the openings or announcements of several EDITION properties, including the 26-floor Tampa EDITION, which opened back in October. That hotel was billed as the city’s first “five-star experience” and features 40 private residences. The Madrid EDITION opened to guests this past April and features a rooftop pool and several restaurants.
Finally, Marriott announced in September that it plans to bring an EDITION hotel to Lake Como in northern Italy in 2025.
