Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue program turns 20 years old this year, and it’s eager to celebrate.

Its latest promo gives members the chance to multiply eligible miles by up to 20x. But wait, there’s more! When you choose to multiply your miles, you’ll also receive a 30% bonus.

There’s a lot to discuss with this promo, so let’s get right to it.

Multiply Your Miles and Earn a Bonus With Flying Blue

To celebrate its 20th birthday, Air France-KLM Flying Blue is out with a new promotion that can help you earn a whole lot of miles.

Until October 14, 2025, you can multiply the miles you’ve earned over the last year by 2x, 4x, 6x, or even 20x. If you choose to multiply your miles, you can also receive 30% bonus miles.

Let’s discuss the details. First and foremost, not every member will be eligible. Log into your Flying Blue account via this link to check if you are. I am not targeted for this promotion, but other Upgraded Points staffers are.

The maximum transaction amount for this promotion is 1 million miles before the additional 30% bonus. Depending on the number of miles you earned in the past year, this could limit you to a certain boost level.

For example, UP’s News Managing Editor Ryan Smith earned 148,578 miles in the past year — which this promotion considers to be October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025 — which limits him to a 6x multiplier. Interestingly, many of the miles that were “earned” were actually transferred into Flying Blue from credit card points, which could be a big help if you’re interested in this promotion.

And given the million-mile limit, the 12x and 20x multipliers weren’t available in this scenario.

Of course, there’s the cost to consider. In Ryan’s case, his original 148,578 miles become 891,468 after the 6x multiplier and then become 1,158,908 miles after the 30% bonus is added. This would cost a total of $17,472.77, resulting in a cost of 1.5 cents per mile, which is still more expensive than our valuation of Flying Blue miles of 1.3 cents apiece.

No matter which tier you select, the cost of the miles comes out to 1.5 cents each.

Here are a few more things you should be aware of:

  • Transactions are processed by points.com, meaning they won’t count as an airfare purchase on your credit card. That means you should use your best credit card for everyday spending, or use this purchase toward a credit card with a solid welcome bonus right now.
  • Any accelerated miles you purchase will be posted to your Flying Blue account within 72 hours of the transaction date.
  • Accelerated miles do not count toward elite status in the Flying Blue program.
  • You’re not eligible to accelerate if you’ve accelerated mileage earning before.

Final Thoughts

The latest Flying Blue promotion contains some pretty eye-popping numbers, providing the ability to boost earned miles by up to 20x. However, no matter the level of boost you can choose, points will cost 1.5 cents apiece, which is higher than what we value each Flying Blue mile at.

If you want to boost your Flying Blue balance quickly and easily, this promotion could be a great way to do so, but don’t go out of your way to take advantage — especially if you don’t have imminent redemptions lined up.
