Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

RetailMeNot is back with its National Cash Back Day promotion — which actually runs for 3 days this year. From November 7 to 9, 2024, you can earn bonus cash-back on numerous merchants.

How does 20% cash-back on your upcoming travel bookings sound? Here’s a look at the deals we’re seeing right now and how to earn these bonus rewards.

Deals for National Cash Back Day 2024

RetailMeNot is a type of online shopping portal where you can earn cash-back for your online purchases. By making a few extra clicks before making a payment, you can earn extra percentages of cash-back (such as an extra 3%) or a flat rate (such as $100 after spending a preset amount).

National Cash Back Day is a special sale, however. After creating an account with RetailMeNot, you’ll see today’s featured offers when logging in.

It’s also possible to filter for travel-related offers. These include 10% cash-back at Expedia and Hilton, 14% cash-back with IHG Hotels & Resorts, 10% back at Vrbo, and more. Not all of the offers have double digits, to be clear. For example, you’ll get just 1% cash-back at Marriott and 2% back at Hertz.

Before clicking through to make a booking, it’s worth comparing these rates against those available through Rakuten or a comparison site like CashBack Monitor to see what’s available.

Is It Worth It?

You should always look for opportunities to earn bonus points or extra cash-back when shopping online. By adding an extra 1 or 2 clicks and a few seconds of your time, you can multiply your earnings — and that’s on top of using the right credit card for the purchase at hand.

That said, take a pause before pursuing some of these travel deals.

If you’re booking a hotel, consider that the best cash-back rates are available through Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) like Expedia and Booking.com. If you book there, you likely won’t earn points or stay credits with a hotel program. If you care about earning Marriott Bonvoy points or you hold Marriott Bonvoy elite status, consider what you might be giving up for the sake of extra cash-back through these deals, rather than what you’d get by booking directly with Marriott.

Hot Tip:

Most hotel rewards programs say that you must book directly with the hotel or its rewards program to get credit for your stay, receive your elite benefits (if you have status), or earn points on your stay. Reservations made through third-party sites don’t qualify for points or elite perks.

Final Thoughts

RetailMeNot has brought back National Cash Back Day for the sixth year. It’s running from November 7 to November 9, 2024, and you can earn bonus cash-back with these deals. Compare them to other available options to ensure you’re getting the best available deal for you.
