Delta wants its loyal customers to have the best in-app experience possible this summer.

As such, the Atlanta-based carrier is introducing a host of new features to make using its app just as good (or if not better) than using a web browser.

“We’re continuously improving the Fly Delta app to make it the ultimate travel companion, enhancing every step of the customer journey to ensure seamless and connected travel with Delta,” said Eric Phillips, senior vice president and chief digital officer at Delta.

Let’s find out what we can expect from version 7.0 of the Delta Air Lines app.

Features of Version 7.0 of Delta’s App

The new features, some of which are exclusive to Delta Platinum and Diamond elites, have already started rolling out and will continue to do so over the summer months. Here’s the latest on the Fly Delta App (iOS, Android).

1. Personalized Notifications and Real-Time Flight Updates for Some iOS Users

To make sure you never miss a beat, iOS users will soon enjoy real-time updates from the Fly Delta app on their lock screens or dynamic island (iPhone 14 Pro+).

Going live in the coming weeks, app users will be notified about key moments of their journey from pre-boarding and boarding to boarding doors closing and arrival. Notifications will start 3 hours prior to departure.

The feature will be exclusive to passengers using iOS 16 or higher. Android users will sadly miss out on this feature.

To improve communication, especially during disruptions, all Fly Delta app users can also expect more personalized notifications specific to their journey.

2. Global and Regional Upgrade Cert Redemption

For the first time, Delta Platinum and Diamond elite status holders can see the live availability of their Global and Regional upgrade certificates.

Members will also be able to redeem the certificates directly through the app when checking out.

3. Choice Benefits Selection Exclusive to App

From June 1, Choice Benefits will only be available to select through the app. This feature, which was first announced in February, will replace the ability to select Choice Benefits online. directly through the app rather than having to log on via a web browser.

Hot Tip:

Choice Benefits are a valuable perk of Delta elite status. Options include American Express statement credit, the ability to gift status, Delta Travel Credit Vouchers, MQD boosts, and more!

4. Help With International Travel Admin and Documentation

Coming soon, passengers heading overseas can opt to receive alerts from the Fly Delta app regarding the required documentation (visas, etc).

5. Self-Service Standby Rebooking

Starting in June, passengers facing disruptions to their domestic travel itinerary will be able to select a standby seat on an earlier flight departing within 24 hours of the original itinerary.

This will apply to nonstop flights or the last leg of multi-stop itineraries.

6. Earn Miles With Uber and Uber Eats

Delta frequent flyers can now link their SkyMiles and Uber accounts via the Fly Delta App.

The feature — that went live in April — is limited to Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries within the U.S.

Final Thoughts

If you’re flying Delta this summer, the new features of version 7.0 of the Fly Delta app will certainly come in handy.

Personalized notifications, updates to flight status, and the ability to book standby seats when facing disruption will be particularly useful on travel days when access to a desktop or web browser is limited.
