IHG announced on May 15, 2023, that it would build 2 hotels in Egypt, expected to open in 2026 and 2028.

Let’s take a look!

Both Hotels Expected To Open by 2028

The Voco West Cairo 205 Suites is scheduled to open by June 2026, while the InterContinental West Cairo 205 is slated for a January 2028 opening. The hotels will be a 45-minute drive from Cairo International Airport (CAI) and near popular attractions such as the Pyramids at Giza.

Here’s what you need to know about each hotel:

  • The InterContinental West Cairo 205 will have 205 rooms, 4 dining options, and nearly 12,000 square feet of meeting space. Other amenities include a lounge, spa, and swimming pool.
  • Voco West Cairo 205 Suites will have 140 rooms. IHG didn’t release many details about this hotel, though it did say the property will have 1 dining outlet and a health club.

According to the chain, these new properties will add 390 rooms to IHG’s Egyptian portfolio.

“We’re delighted to announce the signing of two newly built hotels in Egypt, and expand our luxury and premium offering in the country,” said Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of India, Middle East & Africa at IHG.

CEO of Arkan Palm for Real Estate Investment, Tamer Badr Eldin, said his firm was pleased to be working with IHG to expand its high-end Egypt offerings.

“MEA has historically had strong demand for luxury and premium guest experiences, and as the region continues to be positioned as a great destination for leisure tourism, this demand continues to grow,” Eldin said.

How To Book IHG Hotels in Egypt

While we wait for the InterContinental and Voco hotels to open later this decade, you have several hotel options if you want to earn and redeem IHG points in Egypt.

IHG currently has 7 hotels across 4 brands in the country. These include some high-end properties such as the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis, along with properties under the Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites brands. An additional 13 hotels are in the pipeline and scheduled to open in the next 2 to 5 years.

If you’re low on IHG One Rewards points, there are several ways to boost your balance if you’re interested in staying at one of these properties. IHG offers 3 cards: 2 personal and 1 business credit card, all of which are issued by Chase. Additionally, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.
