One of the most visible hotels in Times Square, the New York Marriott Marquis has gotten a significant facelift as travel to the Big Apple rebounds.
Here’s what you need to know about the property’s recent renovations.
Nearly 2,000 Rooms Received a Makeover
The New York Marriott Marquis, which opened in 1985, has renovated its 1,971 guest rooms, which now feature high-definition TVs, larger closets, walk-in showers, and platform beds. Marriott’s partnership with the media company TED will allow guests to access content, such as TED Talks, from their rooms. Wi-Fi is also free for guests.
Three restaurants also got a facelift, including the Broadway Lounge, with Times Square and the Great White Way views from 2-story floor-to-ceiling windows.
The hotel also renovated the ninth-floor open event space, and meeting spaces on floors 3 through 7 got new carpet and wall designs.
“We are thrilled to unveil the reimagined New York Marriott Marquis, which both honors the hotel’s history and celebrates its place in modern New York City,” said Dan Nadeau, Area General Manager and General Manager of New York Marriott Marquis. “This marks a new milestone where we have always been an iconic fixture.”
To celebrate the renovation, Marriott is offering Times Square View rooms with rates starting at $544 and regular guest room rates starting at $429 — we’d suggest using a co-branded Marriott Bonvoy card to earn up to 17x Marriott Bonvoy points if you were paying cash for your stay.
Earlier this year, the Marriott Bonvoy eliminated its existing award charts and transitioned to “Flexible Point Redemption Rates.” That means the cost of award nights is based on several factors, such as the time of year or demand.
The lowest rates for a 1-night stay in October start at 56,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night for a 1 king guest room with a sofa bed or 56,000 points plus $125 for a room with a view of Times Square.
The refreshed property is excellent news for travelers who plan to visit New York City. The New York Marriott Marquis is located in a prime area, and with the completed renovations, travelers have even more incentive to visit Times Square!
