Points Path, a relatively new browser extension that works with Google Flights to display the award price next to the cash price of a given flight, has consistently added functionality since its inception, quickly making it an essential tool for points-and-miles travelers.

Now, it’s added even more features that should further extend the tool’s utility. Points Path has gone beyond Google Flights to integrate booking rates from Chase Travel, allowing users to see the value of Points Boost redemptions. It’s also expanded into hotel bookings, marking the company’s first foray beyond flights.

Here’s what to know and how to activate these exciting new features for yourself.

View Points Path Valuations for Chase Travel Bookings

As we all know by now, Chase recently changed how cardholders can redeem Ultimate Rewards points within the Chase Travel portal. The issuer eliminated the consistent 1.25-cent or 1.5-cent redemptions (which depended on the card you hold) and introduced Points Boost, which means that the value of each Ultimate Rewards point fluctuates depending on the specific redemption.

Chase Travel allows users to search for results that receive a Points Boost, but it’s hard for users to determine just how much value they’re getting exactly — and this is where Points Path’s new functionality comes in.

The browser extension now displays a precise value of your points for each Points Boost redemption you look at within the Chase Travel portal, and Points Path will tell you whether it’s a good value or not.

This new functionality works with both flight and hotel redemptions, so you can always see how much value you’re getting for your hard-earned Ultimate Rewards points.

There are a couple of things to note before you can start using these new features, including activating the new functionality. You can do so by visiting pointspath.com/account via the browser on which you have Points Path installed.

Log in to your account and find the Additional permissions tab. From there, click Enhance your Chase travel experience and then Enable. Follow the prompts your browser presents, and then you’ll be good to go.

Activation is required only once for each browser through which you use Points Path. So if you use it both on your computer and your phone, you’ll need to activate it twice. Once the features are activated on each device, however, you don’t have to do so again.

Finally, note that while the new features are supported in Chrome, Safari, iOS, and iPadOS, you’ll only see the Points Path graphics in a browser, so they won’t be visible in the Chase mobile app (iOS, Android).

Hot Tip:

Before you can get to the fun part and redeem your points for incredible travel experiences, you’ll need to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Read our full guide to learn about all the best ways to do so.

Points Path Expands Into Hotels

Since it was created, Points Path information has been reserved for flights, but the service is expanding into hotels.

Now, you can see aggregated hotel rate information from multiple sites in 1 place, cutting down on the manual work required to find the best available rate.

When you run a hotel search via an online travel agency (OTA) — like Expedia, for example — Points Path will pull information for the same hotel room across multiple sites and show it to you where you’re searching. Further, you can compare rates you see on OTAs with those of booking directly by clicking the Compare Price button.

You’ll also have to activate the new hotel feature before using it. You can follow the same steps mentioned above, but find the Compare hotel prices across sites, instantly, button on the Additional permissions page. Finally, note that this feature is currently best optimized for desktop/laptop browsers and isn’t fully supported on iOS at this point.

Final Thoughts

Points Path has proven itself to be a valuable tool for using points and miles effectively. Now, it’s even more useful, expanding into the hotel space for quick, easy price comparisons and integrating with the Chase Travel portal to help you understand how much value you’re getting from your Ultimate Rewards points.

These features should help users get even more from Points Path, and we’re excited to see even more functionality come soon to the platform.
