Porter Airlines Adds Toronto-Phoenix Route

Canada’s Porter Airlines has recently revealed its plans to introduce direct flights between its Toronto (YYZ) hub and Phoenix (PHX).

Here’s what you need to know about this new route.

Flights Will Begin This Fall

Porter Airlines will begin operating nonstop flights daily from Toronto (YYZ) to Phoenix (PHX) on October 3, 2024.

Interestingly, Porter will fly the more-than-4-hour route on an Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The airline only flies a fleet of Embraers and Dash 8s, which are typically used on shorter routes and rarely cross-country. Porter’s E195 is arranged in a 2-2 configuration with 132 seats.

Porter will join Air Canada in offering daily, nonstop flights between the 2 cities. (Air Canada flies a combination of Airbus A319 and A321 jets on the route.)

“This Toronto-Phoenix route connects two vibrant centers in North America and gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy Porter’s unmatched economy experience on the route,” said Porter Airlines president Kevin Jackson. “Phoenix is another exciting step in our growth and the latest proof of our commitment to making flying better across the continent.”

Chad Makovsky, aviation director at the City of Phoenix, also noted that Canadian travel is “vital to our community.”

Flights are available starting at around $368 round-trip, which doesn’t include a carry-on bag.

This has been an exciting few weeks for Porter. The airline announced in March that it would start nonstop flights from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) to Montreal, Canada (YUL) this summer.
