Sixth InterContinental Hotel in Mexico Opens Its Doors

InterContinental Presidente Monterrey is IHG’s newest InterContinental hotel in Mexico.

The luxe hotel has 293 guest rooms and suites and serves business and leisure travelers alike.

Amenities include a pool, a spa, a business center, 2 restaurants and a bar, and more than 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel is pet-friendly and offers valet parking.

The hotel was originally expected to open for guests in the summer of 2024, but it missed that mark. Instead, it’s opened for guests on March 31, 2025.

This is IHG’s sixth InterContinental hotel in Mexico, joining already existing properties in Cancún, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Puebla.

Bottom Line:

Monterrey is the capital of the Mexican state Nuevo León and is a major financial hub in the country. The city’s airport, Monterrey International Airport (MTY), offers nonstop flights to several U.S. cities like Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

About InterContinental Hotels & Resorts

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is IHG Hotels & Resorts‘ flagship brand.

Known as the world’s first international luxury hotel brand, InterContinental traces its history back to its first hotel in Belém, Brazil, in 1946. Today, the brand is synonymous with luxury. Like other IHG brands, InterContinental participates in the IHG One Rewards program. That means you can earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points — and InterContinental properties are some of the best ways to redeem points.

Rates at the InterContinental Presidente Monterrey start at $335 per night, including taxes and fees. Alternatively, award stays are available from 42,500 points per night. That’s a redemption rate of nearly 0.8 cents per point — well above our average valuation of IHG points at 0.5 cents each.

IHG One Rewards points are pretty easy to earn, especially if you have a co-branded IHG One Rewards credit card. Even if you don’t, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

InterContinental is all in on Mexico, evidenced by the brand opening its sixth hotel in the country: the InterContinental Presidente Monterrey. Guests can enjoy a refined, minimalist style in their rooms and quality on-property amenities during their stay.

Rooms are available using cash or IHG One Rewards points.
