The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne, the second Ritz-Carlton hotel in Australia, has officially opened its doors.
Described as “an oasis of elevated luxury in the heart of the metropolis,” the newest addition to the Ritz-Carlton brand aims to please.
Here’s everything you can look forward to in this luxury hotel.
Location and Design
The brand-new Ritz-Carlton Melbourne is located on the western side of the city’s business district. The hotel was designed with the many identities of the city in mind, telling both its indigenous story and European heritage. Every evening, guests can enjoy an immersive cultural soundscape that brings the city’s history to life.
Guests are immediately presented with spectacular views of Port Philip Bay and the mountains when checking in at the Sky Lobby Reception, located on Level 80 of the high-rise hotel. With a double-vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire level, guests are immediately treated to views of the entire city.
The hotel features 257 guest rooms, with understated decor that let the city views be the centerpiece. The Ritz-Carlton suite is one the largest in the city and comes with amenities like an in-room sauna and a private pantry.
“We are thrilled to bring The Ritz-Carlton brand to Melbourne, and to open our second hotel in Australia,” said Tina Edmundson, President, Luxury at Marriott International. “With its destination-driven design inspired by the city’s past and present, combined with the finest amenities, exciting culinary offerings and highly personalized service, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne exemplifies our commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences and creating meaningful memories in inspiring cities, the world over.”
The Ritz-Carlton Club, available for guests staying in Club Level suites, serves as a private sanctuary to work, rest, or play while receiving elevated service and culinary offerings. Guests can also look forward to towels scented with seasonal native fragrances upon arrival.
There are 3 dining options at The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne. Atria is the hotel’s signature restaurant, featuring hyper-seasonal dishes by Executive Chef Michael Greenlaw and Culinary Advisor Mark Best. Cameo is the hotel’s cocktail bar intended to be an intimate setting where guests can indulge in rare vintages and the art of mixology. Finally, The Ritz-Carlton Lobby Lounge serves coffee, casual lunches, relaxed dinners and receptions, and high tea.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa has 6 treatment rooms in total. The spa menu includes a rose quartz Gu Sha facial and a foot massage ritual to balance energy. A fitness center, yoga studio, and infinity pool overlooking the city round out the hotel’s wellness experiences.
For dates this spring, the Ritz-Carlton Melbourne will cost you around $475 per night. If you’ve got a stash of Marriott Bonvoy points, you can redeem them for about 90,000 points per night.
We estimate that Marriott Bonvoy points are worth 0.7 cents per point, so this redemption would fall below our valuations as you’d achieve a value of 0.5 cents apiece.
Final Thoughts
The second Ritz-Carlton in Australia is now open and ready to welcome guests into a thoughtfully designed hotel experience.
The hotel presents the story of the city to visitors through the hotel’s decor, inspiring guests to know more about the city they’re visiting. 3 dining options, in addition to The Ritz-Carlton Club and the spa each add to the luxury brand’s longstanding appeal, making the Ritz-Carlton Melbourne a fantastic addition to the city.
