Marriott Bonvoy is bringing the swanky Le Méridien brand Down Under in Melbourne.
Here’s what you need to know!
235-Room Le Méridien Melbourne Now Open for Guests
Marriott has debuted the Le Méridien brand in Australia for the first time, with the opening of the Le Méridien Melbourne.
The hotel features 235 rooms, including 14 suites. All rooms boast 55-inch TVs, signature bottled cocktails, and more.
Other amenities include 4,500 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop pool and terrace, a gym, a sauna, and 2 on-site dining options.
Marriott says the building has taken many forms since opening as a hotel in the 1850s, including a theatre and nightclub. World-renowned artists such as Prince and James Brown have performed on the site.
In announcing the opening, Marriott said that it was excited to bring Le Méridien’s “European essence of savoring the good life” to Melbourne, Australia’s second largest city.
“Melbourne is a destination known for its rich history and thriving art, culture, and culinary scene, which makes it the perfect fit for Le Méridien,” said Jennifer Connell, Vice President and Global Brand Leader at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to welcoming travelers as they explore Melbourne in style.”
Le Méridien is one of Marriott’s most recognized brands. The brand has more than 100 hotels and resorts in more than 30 countries and territories in some of the world’s most prime travel destinations, from New York to the Maldives. This opening marks Marriott’s 11th branded property in and around Melbourne.
How to Book
Le Méridien falls under Marriott’s “Distinctive Premium” umbrella, along with other household names such as Renaissance Hotels and Westin. Whether you’re using cash or Marriott Bonvoy points, rates tend to be reasonable for these brands.
That’s no different at the Le Méridien Melbourne, where a 1-night stay can cost as low as 31,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for dates this spring.
You shouldn’t have a hard time earning Marriott Bonvoy points if you’re interested in booking a stay, as they are among the easiest of all hotel points to earn. The chain has several co-branded credit cards that you can use to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from several Chase credit cards and Amex Membership Rewards points earned from Amex credit cards at a 1:1 ratio.
