If you’ve ever dug through your bag at a TSA checkpoint looking for your passport or ID, this one’s for you. Samsung just announced a partnership with CLEAR that brings a passport-backed digital ID directly into Samsung Wallet — and it’s free to use.

The feature is called Samsung ID with CLEAR, and it’s now available on Galaxy devices in the U.S. Here’s how it works.

What Is Samsung ID with CLEAR?

Samsung ID with CLEAR is new as of May 26, 2026. It’s a digital ID tied to your U.S. passport and verified through CLEAR’s identity platform. Once set up, it works at more than 250 TSA checkpoints nationwide, letting you verify your identity with a tap or QR scan from your phone instead of pulling out a physical document.

It’s also accepted at select venues — BMO Stadium in Los Angeles is one of the early partners — covering age verification and other government-recognized use cases beyond just airports.

Your ID information is encrypted on the device and protected by Samsung Knox. You’ll need your fingerprint or PIN to access it, so someone can’t just pull it up if they grab your phone.

Hot Tip:

While this partnership is offered through CLEAR, you don’t need a CLEAR+ membership (which has an annual cost) to use it.

How To Add It to Samsung Wallet

Setup is straightforward, and it only takes a few minutes:

  1. Open the Samsung Wallet app and go to the Quick Access tab.
  2. Tap the + button.
  3. Select Digital IDs.
  4. Choose Samsung ID with CLEAR.
  5. Tap Get Card, and then follow the on-screen prompts.

You’ll need a valid U.S. passport to complete the verification process. Once it’s added, you can present your ID at supported checkpoints by tapping your phone or scanning the QR code — no digging required.

Hot Tip:

If you don’t have a Samsung phone, Apple supports digital passport options for iPhone users.

Final Thoughts

Digital IDs have been slowly making their way into mainstream wallets — Apple Wallet has supported them in select states for a while — and this partnership puts Samsung squarely in the same conversation.

For travelers with Galaxy devices, the ability to breeze through TSA with just your phone is a nice upgrade. Samsung’s new digital ID is easy to try because it’s free for anyone who wants it, and the on-device encryption means you don’t have to give up much to get it.
