Singapore Airlines is famed for its unrivaled hospitality and exquisite first class suites on its Airbus A380s.

However, several other carriers have caught up to — and even surpassed — Singapore Airlines in terms of their other premium cabin offerings, including business class and premium economy.

That looks like it’s about to change, as confirmed by the airline’s big event in Singapore, where it unveiled entirely new cabins that will soon roll out across much of the airline’s long-haul fleet.

Which Aircraft Get These New Cabins? And When?

Singapore Airlines has invested over $1.5 billion in reworking its products across all classes of service to improve the passenger experience.

The Singaporean flag carrier confirmed that the new cabins — which include all-new products in first, business, premium economy, and economy — will be introduced starting in the second half of 2027. We’re already in late 2026, so passengers won’t have to wait long to experience the new products.

The new business class product will debut on the airline’s retrofitted Airbus A350-900s and -900ULRs (ultra-long-range), while the latter will also receive the new first class product.

When they eventually arrive, Singapore Airlines’ brand-new Boeing 777-9s will be delivered with the new first, business, premium economy, and economy cabins.

Now, let’s take a look at what you can expect from the new products, starting at the pointy end of the plane.

First Class

The new first class cabins will span just 1 row of 4 seats on the Airbus A350-900ULR and 1.5 rows of 6 seats on the upcoming Boeing 777-9.

In terms of design and space, the new seat is a vast improvement over the current first class product found on Singapore’s Boeing 777s. However, Singapore Suites found on its A380s remain in a different league entirely.

Similar to the Suites, the middle seats turn into a double bed. At 80 inches long and 30 inches wide, Singapore is calling it “the largest double bed in commercial aviation.” Each seat also offers face-to-face dining — a common feature in latest-generation first and even business class cabins.

The new first class seats will get upgraded amenities, too, including a mattress topper with thermal regulation from German luxury bedding brand Paradies. Passengers will also have a choice of pillows to match their personal sleep style.

The seats can also move in tandem to form a 2-seat sofa — a feature that Singapore Suites doesn’t offer. And should passengers find themselves in the middle seat next to a stranger, there’s a privacy divider that extends almost from the floor to the ceiling.

These seats have a few additional customer-centric features, including an underseat storage compartment for bags, a vanity drawer with a backlit mirror, and a small wardrobe.

An integrated touch-capable display that shows your flight details is a particularly cool, tech-forward update. There’s also a setting that remembers your seat preference for your next flight, which is great if you’re a regular Singapore Airlines first class flyer.

Business Class

Stepping back into the business class cabin, it looks like it belongs to a different airline with its color scheme. The warm golds, beiges, and oranges have been replaced by cooler shades of gray and black.

The cabins will be arranged in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration, and seat counts will vary by aircraft.

  • Airbus A350-900 — 42 seats
  • Airbus A350-900ULR — 70 seats
  • Boeing 777-9 — 54 seats

The introduction of sliding privacy doors brings Singapore Airlines up to par with its competitors, many of whom have offered business class seats with doors for years.

Singapore has also worked to improve seat recline, which it says will provide more natural support for the back, legs, and body. Business class passengers will also now have the option to save their preferred seat positions for their next flight.

The center seats are perfect for those traveling with a companion. Like in first class, the seats turn into a double bed in lie-flat mode. Alternatively, there’s a privacy divider if seated next to a stranger.

When fully flat, the 24-inch-wide seats measure 79 inches long — that’s on par with the industry standard. Inflight entertainment screens are 4K-equipped and measure 22 inches. Note that the screens on the Boeing 777-9s will be a bit smaller at 20 inches.

Premium Economy

Singapore’s new premium economy cabin will debut on the Boeing 777-9, whenever that might be, and will be reserved exclusively for that aircraft.

The seats will boast an industry-leading 40-inch pitch and up to 9 inches of recline.

To enhance comfort as much as possible in premium economy, seats have a 4-way adjustable headrest, and the pop-out legrest has an adjustable footrest.

Additional notable features include handy personal storage space, 16-inch 4K touch screens, and a 17-inch-by-10-inch bi-fold tray table.

Economy

The new economy cabins will also be exclusive to the Boeing 777-9s.

Singapore highlights ergonomic cushioning, 4-way adjustable headrests, and improved space between the legs and the seat in front as comfort-led design improvements.

In terms of specifications, there’ll be 204 seats in a 3-4-3 layout. Pitch will clock in at 31 to 32 inches, with up to 6 inches of recline, and the large inflight entertainment screens measure 13 inches.

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt Singapore’s new cabins will bring a more modern, private, and luxurious experience to premium passengers, especially compared to what it currently offers. However, we can’t say there’s a definitive “wow factor” that so many airlines have been striving to provide recently.

Still, these new cabins, combined with Singapore’s famous service culture, will help it remain competitive with its peers.
