Update: As of July 2022, this development has now been acquired by Accor and is now expected to include a Faena hotel.

New York City has no shortage of luxury hotels, but a new one is coming to the Big Apple, and it’s the first of its kind in the U.S.

The luxury Six Senses brand is opening its first U.S. hotel — the second in the Americas — and it’s slated to open in 2023.

Here’s what you need to know about one of New York’s newest luxury hotels!

Six Senses Expands Americas Properties

Six Senses operates 17 hotels and resorts in 20 countries. The hotel says it has signed an additional 34 properties into its development pipeline.

The new Six Senses New York will be just the second Six Senses hotel in the Americas, with the first being the Six Senses Botanique in Brazil.

As part of the IHG portfolio, the luxury brand is rolling out the ability for IHG One Rewards members to earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points.

Six Senses New York Expected To Open in 2023

The Six Senses New York, with 137 rooms and suites, is scheduled to open in 2023. The ultra-luxury hotel occupies 10 floors of the XI residential complex on 18th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

Rooms start at 400 square feet, with each including an in-room bar. The property will feature 2 restaurants (1 located off The High Line) and a cafe with an outdoor terrace — there will even be a 45,000-square-foot social club.

Guests will be spoilt for choice when it comes to experiences and can take advantage of neighborhood art and culinary tours, cooking classes, private movie screenings, and wellness services from the Six Senses Spa New York.

IHG One Rewards doesn’t have an award chart and instead uses variable pricing, meaning award nights can vary in cost. Right now, it’s unclear how much award nights — or stays paid with cash — will cost. However, other Six Senses hotels can cost upward of 100,000 IHG One Rewards points per night, which gives us some indication of how much this new hotel may cost.

A landing page shows details about the hotel and when it’s slated to open, but there is no way to book rooms on the site… at least right now.

Hot Tip: While the concierge can help plan your NYC excursions, our ultimate travel guide to New York City can tip you off to the best things to do, see, and enjoy!

Final Thoughts

This new hotel is pretty big news, especially for travelers visiting New York who are loyal to the IHG brand. There are many luxury IHG properties in the city, but it’s clear that Six Senses will be in a class of its own.

While we don’t yet know how much award nights will cost, you have a head start to fill up your IHG One Rewards points balance in time for this hotel’s 2023 opening.
