The ultra-luxe Six Senses brand has announced a new South Carolina resort spanning 3 islands.

Let’s dive right into this news!

First Six Senses Hotel in the United States

This will be Six Senses’ first U.S. property. In 2022, the brand announced Six Senses New York — though Accor later acquired that development and is expected to become a Faena.

Six Senses South Carolina Islands will span several locations, including Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island, and Bay Point Island.

The Hilton Head Island section of the resort will serve as the resort’s entry point. Amenities will include a restaurant, retail outlet, and water sports.

On Daufuskie Island, the resort will feature an all-day restaurant and bar, water sports, a beach club, and a pool grill. Residences on the island will range from 2 to 5 bedrooms. The Six Senses Spa will also be located on this island.

Six Senses South Carolina Islands will be a short distance from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), which serves major airlines like American, Delta, and United.

The hotel is expecting to be ready to welcome guests in 2026, though it’s unclear exactly when.

“After a few years in the making, we’re delighted and excited to be partnering with Whitestone and Redrock in the creation of two special connected communities that speak to the beauty of their environments and honor the people and culture of the area,” said Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs.

Six Senses hasn’t detailed whether the resort will be part of the IHG One Rewards program. Therefore, it’s unclear whether guests can earn and redeem IHG points when the hotel opens.

Bottom Line:

Six Senses has just 1 property open in the Americas, the Six Senses La Sagesse. That hotel will open for guests in May 2024.

About Six Senses

Six Senses is 1 of the most luxurious hotel chains in the world. They are located in some of the world’s most exclusive destinations, like Bhutan, Oman, and Seychelles.

The brand has more than 2 dozen hotels and resorts open and an additional 42 in the pipeline. Six Senses was acquired by IHG Hotels & Resorts back in 2019, giving you the ability to earn and redeem points with the chain.

The award-winning luxury hotel brand is known to use the natural topography of a destination to its benefit — something we’re likely to see in the new South Carolina resort.

Final Thoughts

This is excellent news for travelers, as 1 of the best hotel brands in the world is setting up shop in South Carolina. This project is even more interesting because the resort will be spread across 3 separate islands, giving travelers a unique experience. While we await the opening of Six Senses South Carolina Islands, check out the brand’s other hotels across the globe!
