Southwest Airlines is offering cheap flights, offering customers a discount of up to 30% when you book tickets by May 1, 2025.

With this offer, you can travel throughout spring, summer, and early fall, though eligible dates vary by destination. Here’s everything you need to know about Southwest’s latest sale.

Southwest Sale Details

You don’t need a promo code for this sale, but you must book by May 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT and at least 21 days before departure. The full terms are on the promotion’s landing page, and you’ll need to use promo code SUMMER30 for this offer.

This sale offers up to 30% off base fares on Southwest flights, and the eligible travel dates vary by destination:

  • Travel within the continental U.S. between May 20 and October 2, 2025
    • Not valid for travel on Sundays
    • Blackout dates on June 28 and September 1, 2025
  • Interisland Hawaiian flights between May 13 and July 2, 2025
    • Only valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Travel to or from Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and international destinations from August 17 to October 3, 2025
    • Valid on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday when leaving the continental U.S. (except San Juan, Puerto Rico, which is valid on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
    • Only valid on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday when flying to the continental U.S.

The sale only applies to flights booked directly with Southwest. Here are a few more terms you should be aware of:

  • Use promo code SUMMER30 to get the savings.
  • Sale prices apply to Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares only.
  • Valid on one-way fares.
  • Any changes to an itinerary after purchase will eliminate qualifications for this promotion and result in the forfeiture of any promo code’s savings.
  • Seats, days, and markets are limited.
  • Flights are non-refundable.

Here’s an example of a discounted ticket from St. Louis (STL) to Chicago Midway (MDW) that you can book for $109 in Wanna Get Away and $124 for Wanna Get Away Plus, rather than $149 and $170, respectively:

Those numbers represent savings of 32.9% and 27.1%, respectively.

Remember, Southwest has an easy-to-use Low Fare Calendar to help you find the cheapest dates when your travel plans are flexible.

Since Southwest Rapid Rewards is a revenue-based program, sales also apply to flights booked using points. Unfortunately, you won’t get outsized value: expect to get around 1.1 to 1.5 cents per point from your Rapid Rewards points.

If you use one of Southwest’s co-branded credit cards to pay for your tickets, you could earn 2 to 4 Rapid Rewards points per $1 spent on your Southwest purchases. These cards also have other perks like anniversary bonus points every cardmember year, EarlyBird Check-In certificates, and more.

Hot Tip:

This sale doesn’t apply to existing bookings, so if you find your same flight is now available at a lower price, you can book it and cancel your existing reservation. Here’s how to change or cancel a Southwest flight.

Final Thoughts

Southwest has a flash sale advertising savings of up to 30% off flights, though it’s entirely possible to find discounts above that number. There are blackout dates, and eligible travel dates vary depending on where you fly. However, if you book by May 1, you might be able to find a nice discount on your summer travel.

These tickets will qualify for Southwest’s existing baggage rules before the airline reduces the checked luggage allowance and makes other changes at the end of May. That’s because those changes will only apply to tickets booked after May 28 — after the booking period for this sale has ended.
